Hi all I'm brand new to the site from Victoria and after years of building lego as a child right up to adulthood I am now also considering some investing. Just wondering if there are any ways of finding out what lego sets are soon to be retired, limited release etc? Thanks

So guys im buying some lego with the purpose of keeping it brand new and sealed and unused to sell for a profit about 1 or 2 years afters its discontinued. Would opening the box decrease the value? I assume it would but then i think of what if the box is missing people and you sell it to somebody after its been discontinued and they cant get replacement parts or instructions from lego anymore? Could it somehow be smarter to build the lego once then bag it up again just to ensure everything is there? If anybody has experience in this please let me know your thoughts and what i should do. Thanks

  9. For sale at shopforme.com.au, limit of 1 per customer. Free delivery as order is over $150. I believe this price is currently the cheapest you can find in Aus (someone correct me if i'm wrong). Was sold out when i checked yesterday, today it seems to be available again.

  10. Hello all, first time posting on this forum, just thought I'd share something interesting. Was just browsing through all the different online Lego shops, checking on the status of Delorean and excl ed. 4x4 crawler order availability in the different countries, went onto the NZ Lego site - crawler retail price is $299 NZD - OK, fair enough - then saw the Delorean going for $53.99 NZD, which is about 30% cheaper than $69.99 AUD on the Aus Lego shop, after conversion! Not sure if it's a pricing error, but If you've got family or contacts in NZ - maybe worth ordering through them at this price.

In case anyone missed it, Toy's Paradise have the 4x4 Crawler for $180 Shipped. It's no longer on their site but can still be purchased through the Westfield site. On their own website they have the Unimog for $200 Shipped I can't say I've looked properly into ordering from overseas just yet but this is certainly the cheapest I've seen these sets in Aussie.

I have made purchases at a number of Australian based stores and have received win-back offers from 2 of them so far. Mighty Ape I made 2 purchases with at the end of last year and about 6 months after my most recent order I received a coupon via email for $10 off my next purchase. Of note is that Mighty Ape have had a number of exclusives go through their site and even had the 41999 Exclusive Crawler set which sold out within hours obviously. I just received today a coupon from Toys Paradise for 10% of my next purchase after I made 1 order about 4-5 months ago. I'm wondering if there are any other stores out there that have similar offers after waiting a …

What do people in Australia use for packaging and shipping their lego sets? I checked about 5 online packaging stores (Staples, Signet etc.) and none seem to sell boxes suitable for Lego. Any help is much appreciated. :-)

Do you Aussies ever try selling any of your sets to the US or other countries on say US Ebay? Have you found any local deals on sets that would make doing so profitable? I found quite a few 9465 Zombies sets recently at a local discount that makes the current US price of $115 plus decently profitable. Have also tried selling a 10187 Beetle. I'm looking forward to the new Brick Classifieds getting up and running as I think it could open up the ease of entry into overseas markets a little.

I got an e-mail about a 20% off online sale at DJ for what seemed to be clothing oriented. Had a look at the Lego, and for at least 10218 Pet Shop, the 20% discount was applied. I tried it on the Town Hall (10224), but no discount on that one. No idea about any of other sets, but if there are any ones you want and are harder to get, may be worth sticking them in the cart and seeing what happens.

  17. What is happening with 10234? It's already out of stock Australia wide for Myer. For DJ, there were 10 around my city, but the next day all gone. Is it because the retail think the set won't be attractive so they order less? It just came out not so long ago. Do you think they will order more of them and have it available in the future?

So I've had my first couple positive experiences on Gumtree as a seller. Without worrying about postage, ebay and paypal fees I'm able to sell at a much lower price on Gumtree and still make more money than if I was selling on Gumtree. It seems like a win/win for the purchaser and the seller. Case in point was 2 high speed passenger trains I got from Amazon UK for AU$132 shipped. I sold both of these on Gumtree within a week for $165, netting me $33 profit for each train. To get the same profit on Ebay, assuming shipping is $25 and the buyer uses Paypal, I would need to sell the item for $217 (with free shipping for the buyer). As the retail on this item is $230 I w…

Hoping someone can help me...I am trying to find the name of a lego set so I can download the instructions, but I don't know anything about it! It had several sections, joined together with lots of shelves with potions, crystals, eggs other random things on them. The sections kind of made a half circle. I hope someone knows what I'm talking about from my vague description! I thought it might have been a fantastic beasts set, but my googling has come up with nothing! TIA

Does anyone have any tips to share on the selling of larger sets? I am very over Australia Post and the ridiculous fees they charge. It just cost me $42 to post an Epic Dragon Battle as they refused to class it by weight. I am seriously over them, and just thinking more and more about using custom boxes and a courier company. Surely it cannot be any worse off? I can honestly get sets imported for cheaper than what this rip off crew charge.

  25. They have finally added it officially to their list! You save around AUD 80 and there might only be 1 - 2 sets in each store. If you are keen suggest buying it online. http://www.toysrus.com.au/lego/lego-creator-sydney-opera-house/w1/i5126608_1181094/
