REI has a Lego LED Solar Torch that is a 7" minifigure on sale for $14.83! I've never seen this before, looks like it is not made by Lego just licensed to Play Visions. If the plastic is the same Lego quality plastic, I might like this! Does anyone have one of these?

Are there anyone participating in the Everything is awesome contest for the Emmet awards. I am under 18 so I have a chance for winning a bunch of sets as a prize. It would be cool if we could share and like our videos using our Lego accounts. Here is mine http://www.lego.com/en-us/movie/mvb/46a9028c457745e2ba5c1e129917e83f-wsh3hg Feel free to share yours if you made one!

Wasn't sure where this should go, so this seems as good a place as any! I was digging through my old Legos and adding them to my Brickfolio, until it was stumped by one of them. After some digging, it turns out that this was a 1996 promo item (can be found at peeron). Has anyone else come across this one? I think I got this on a transatlantic Singapore Airlines flight - at least I have a pretty vivid memory of getting Legos from them once. Would be curious to know if any of you have this set and where else it may have been distributed. Thanks!

My most recent article has pictures that I saved from an auction showing a UCS set in a state of disrepair. I was unable to recover several other auctions that had other UCS or Modular sets in greater disrepair. If anyone has pictures of one of the "big sets" in a bulk lot auction, I would love to have them. Unfortunately I wasn't really saving these before, because I didn't win the auctions, but now I have a distinctive need for them. Very specifically, I know that there was an auction for a Death Star II and another for a Vader's TIE Advanced that were largely disassembled in the past few months, but the auction listings have purged the pictures. Anything else would be …

It was reported Casey Kasem had died just yesterday morning at St. Anthony's Hospital in Gig Harbor, Washington. For many of us, he will be best remembered as the voice of Shaggy Rogers from Scooby-Doo or Cliffjumper on the original Transformers cartoon. For the final years of his life, he was suffering from Lewy body dementia causing him inability to speak among other terrible symptons. May his spirit find peace.

It's been years since I've bought bulk lots and picked through them to complete sets, but I think that I used to focus on finding minifigures or unique pieces and using peeron to match them. Now there are so many more Lego sites out there that I'm wondering what other techniques are out there that I'm missing. I've noticed the forum for identifying pieces on this site, but hate to be posting multiple pieces a day (I'm expecting 140 lbs in this week pending some shipping issues). Regardless, it'll be interesting to see how others handle bulk lots!

I saved the tray thinking I’d use it for planting seeds. But today after playing Catan Junior for the first time with my daughter I realized another use.

Hi everyone! I am attending school to get my Master's in Education. Currently, I have a project to interview a parent or a sibling of a special education student (they don't need to still be a studnet). I was wondering if there were any fellow brickpickers that would be able to help me out on this. We could do it via phone or email, whatever is most convenient. Also, I can give you a little background on myself and my class first, if you like. Thank you!

Hi everyone! I have been considering creating a monthly LEGO club for my son and other kids in our area. I am trying to look at ways to put one together. I know a lot of the groups just buy a bunch of legos and have the kids just come and build, but I really like the idea of them getting to build something to take home. I did see one group that did some of the mini builds and that is what I am really interested in. Use the past monthly mini builds and I would order all the bricks and that way they could make it and take it home and add to their collections at home. However I am coming across a problem because it seems as though most sets I spend a long…

In a recent issue of the longtime running MAD Magazine, there are a couple pages with some panels of satirical humor on our equally long lasting favorite building block brand. They are rather silly in a relatable way. I suggest clicking on each image to enlarge seeing how squeezed these forum reply boxes tend to make them at regular viewing. Source: The Brick Fan

I've been attending the BrickCon Public Expo in Seattle for years, but had never displayed my models before or participated in the longer 4-day Private Convention. I just completed an in-depth write-up that goes "behind the scenes" at one of the largest and oldest LEGO conventions for AFOL's. Some of my highlights: Seeing large LEGO models get re-assembled was really interesting. I loved playing the LEGO games like the "Blind Build" shown here. Displaying my models for the first time to the Public was really cool. As always, there were impressive new models on display at the Public Exhibition. LINK TO LONGER ARTICLE AND MO…
