Star Wars: The Force Awakens has finally arrived in cinemas, and to celebrate we’ve assembled the best builders in the galaxy to construct seven iconic saga scenes, from the classic trilogy to the new film. We also take a look at the Star Wars Battle Figures, and compare Darth Vaders new and old in a showdown of galactic proportions. Elsewhere, we find out how LEGO can be used with prosthetic limbs to improve the lives of child amputees, how Britain’s most outspoken toy retailer is preparing for the Christmas season, how to bring your minifigures to life and why not every LEGO set is a solid investment. There’s much more besides, as animation expert Stev…

An image of the June 2017 LEGO Store calendar has appeared, and it looks like a new Carousel will be coming to the Fairgrounds theme. The rumor of a new Carousel started back in January, but gained a lot of traction over the last week. Set 10256, Fairground Carousel, appeared on Brickset earlier this week, which added fuel to the fire. Early this morning, part of the June 2017 calendar appeared online, and it seems that the Carousel will appearing in June. (Image from BrickGeekz Facebook page) The Zombie Apocalypse Initial concern from BrickPickers could be classified as the "Death Star Effect." Would we be getting a new set, or, as many feared,…

  6. LEGO hasn't released much for one of the flagship titles of the Marvel comics universe. Marvel Super Heroes X-Men vs. Sentinel is only the second set featuring those popular mutants. 4 Popular characters, an iconic vehicle, and the most notorious instruments of government sponsored mass murder in the Marvel Universe should lead to one of the best sets that LEGO has produced for this theme. Let's take a look and see how well they accomplished what should be an amazing set. Let's review. REVIEW: SET DETAILS Set #: 76022 Name: X-Men Vs. The Sentinel Theme: Marvel Super Heroes Parts: 336 Price: $49.99 The general consensus is that this set is overpriced. The …

  12. Dorling Kindersley's first Lego Star Wars dictionary of sets was published in 2009. The 2nd edition with recent sets hit the book stores in 2014. It now appears a 3rd edition is planned for this year if the Brickset latest "new" inventory is correct with this new ISBN value (see picture below). These DK books are a wonderful visual guide to practically every Lego Star Wars and exclusive set with concise information and photographs. As a special incentive, 1 exclusive minifigure have been included with each edition to-date (both had a Luke Skywalker "A New Hope" variation). The 3rd edition should highlight the latest Ulimate Coll…

  13. It's the holiday season, so pour a glass of eggnog and get your ginger snaps close at hand. Actually, are ginger snaps a holiday thing? I have no idea. Maybe I should just talk about the set. REVIEW: SET DETAILS Set #: 10245 Name: Santa's Workshop Theme: Creator (Winter Village) Parts: 883 Price: $69.99 Before we get to the build, let’s talk value. At $69.99 the price per piece works out to just under $.08 each. This is much better than the licensed sets that I am used to dealing with. There are 6 minifigures. Without a lot of experience with creator or city sets, I feel like most of the body parts are reused. In addition to all of the minifigures there …

  15. The winter wave of Star Wars LEGO sets has begun to hit. The Force Awakens sets are front and center, just the way that should be expected weeks after the movie is released. Since they are here, it is time for a review. In this installment, we'll be looking at the set that is the turning point of the movie that brings our heroes and villains more firmly into their roles, the Battle on Takodana. REVIEW: SET DETAILS Set #: 75139 Name: Battle on Takodana Theme: Star Wars Parts: 409 Price: $59.99 Before we get to the build, let’s talk value. At $59.99 the price per piece works out to a bit under $.15 each. This is on the high side of pricing for a licensed s…

  17. Welcome to first monthly entry of the Top 10 Selling sets as listed by LEGO S@H. As you may remember, this blog started as a weekly posting, but we figured it would be better to compile the data throughout the month and publish it all in one time. This reduces the probability of having less than 10 sets every other week. How does this Blog work? While the LEGO Shop at Home best sellers list is updated daily, we will be updating it every month (Hopefully by the end of the 1st week of the next month). The list includes only sets. Minifigures, keychains, Pick a Brick and other products are excluded. I am keeping an Excel spreadsheet with…

  18. In typical fashion as we approach the end of the year, LEGO has officially unveiled the next in it's line of Creator Modular Buildings - The Corner Garage. The set will retail for $199.99 (US) and will be available beginning January 1, exclusively at LEGO Shop at Home. No doubt it will be available elsewhere starting 2nd Quarter 2019. The set will contain 2,569 pieces. The set fits resembles a 1950s era Service Garage and Gas Station, and fits in very well with the 1950's Downtown Diner (10260) released January 1, 2018. LEGO's press release: On the investment front, there could be as many as six Modular Building available at the same time: 10264 -…

  21. I loved the Captain America: Civil War movie. I loved the chance to get Giant-Man, Agent 13 and War Machine. I felt lukewarm about the chance to add another Iron Man and Captain America to my collection. Here was my chance to recreate the epic airport battle between 3 iconic super heroes and the 9 second-stringers that they brought along. (I say that with love since I have always had a soft spot in my heart for Hawkeye, Winter Soldier and Black Widow.) Wait, the packaging conveys so much depth of scene, but when you take away the graphic, what are you left with? Why couldn't Giant-Man have been released in a set similar to Hulk Buster? I need to look more in depth at this…
