So I just got a confirmation email from lego saying that my PC has shipped, but it only says 149 vip points earned even though the order was placed during 2x vip points. Is this correct or an error on their part?

when you check your account history it should show 2 lines of PC 149 points

Okay thank you! Hasn't shown up yet (probably will tomorrow) but I thought it was weird since the ones that did ship on time showed the full amount of points earned on the email.

Do you guys think this shortage has something to do with the new small boxes being introduced? I was at Westfield shopping centre in London over the weekend just gone and I saw the new boxes lego mentioned some time ago. They're about 30% smaller than the current ones.

 

So I wonder if this has anything to do with the recent chaos of sets being in short supply...

No, IMHO.  I think it has to do with the holidays, double VIP, and people panic buying Palace Cinemas over the last few months because they believe it may retire this year because Town Hall retired early.

 

To me, there are few similarities between Palace Cinema and Town Hall other than they had (have) been out more than 2 years.  The price point is different and box size is different.  Nobody knows about sales of PC, but many assume TH sales were poor because of price point.

It was actually funny to see PC boxes towering over DO & PR on shelves.  I am not sure if TLG is concerned about this though. 

I have a feeling this set will be retired soon, only because I have one! I'm not even sure why I only have one of this set when I have several FB, GE, TH, and PS. Gotta pick up more.

That's awfully recent.  After TH, I'm open to anything, but I have trouble seeing the reasoning behind an early retirement for PC.  Do people just not like movies anymore, or what?  It seems like a stretch to me, and if you buy a PC now, you are in all likelihood 1.5 years early...

It could definitely be retired early, but in all honesty I'd rather focus on Pet Shop. It would be more logical even if we know that sometimes LEGO doesn't really retire sets in a logical way..
