Those stickers are cool. Too bad they aren't official lego stickers. I can't bring myself to have anything that isn't actual lego brand.

​Those are very cool.  It's easy to use those, too, because they get stuck onto a very common piece.  So you can easily switch things up and out.

I may pick up a few sets of those and see if that doesn't help sell my PCs for a little higher price down the road.

PC back to Available in the US. PS still OOS for 30 days. My PC that I ordered earlier this month when it was OOS for 30 days just shipped today.

Seal code 19R5 for the one I rec'd the other day.

The whole thing with PC was because one member said that one Lego employee told him that it would retire this July. 

And it has been constantly on backorder since then.

Internet rumors have a life of their own.  in reality it is unlike though possible the PC will retire this year.  It is more likely that PS will retire, particularly given that DO is a very similar design and likely was intended to replace PS.  Finally its entirely possible that no modular will retire this year and we will see a slow but consistent trickle of stock. 

my bets are currently on the PS with a some PC in reserve just in case.

I thought some of it had to do with the Town Hall experience and a "better get some now because anything could happen" mindset.

I think alot of resellers were confounded by 10224 in 2014. With 2 mods retired in 2014 then none retiring in 2015 is also a possibility that most resellers do not want to hear.

the run on PC is due to the TH being retired out of sequence.  why did that happen?

for all we know at the 2012 TLG evil lord business meeting they decided to make new modulars last 24 months instead of 48 to help ease production demands on modulars and so starting last year in 2014, GE retired after 4, TH retired after 2 years.  This year PS retires after 4, PC retires after 2.  after this year they can phase out the larger modular boxes.  then starting in 2016 they will catch up to one retiring a year from then on.  this will also discourage insane hoarding behavior by only having 2-3 modulars available at a time because they can keep up with that type of demand instead of having 4 available.  Everything about this subject is speculation.  This is the reason i concocted for the modular retirement behavior of last year.  My current PC hoarding behavior will prevent me from being under goal should PC retire this year or next year. its not going to get easier to accumulate stock on this one even if it sticks around another year.  Its a great build.

One reason I heared why TH retired out of order was due to some particular pieces in this set. But what do I know.  

Yep, I don't want to get caught with my pants down with PC so I picked up two this month with the WS promo, which bring total to a whopping three.   I'll pick up more later this year during other decent promos.

The funny (or not so funny) thing is that the more often resellers make runs on current sets like PC or PS during their regular lifespan, the more likely retailers and/or Lego are going to be to take further actions to limit or restrict sales to resellers.

I have 3 I have acquired at discounted prices over the last 12 months and I don't plan on buying any more until 2016.  Unless there happen to be some serious EOL warning signs of course.

The simple answer is that many people either doubted that sets like the SSD, TH, R2 and AA would retire, so they never stocked up or gave LEGO an indication that the sets were worthy of production  extension.  Fast forward a year and you have the Red 5 for example, which was discounted numerous times and was basically ignored by resellers, even with the free set promos and discounts.  The Red 5 all of the sudden became a wanted set and there was nothing else close to retiring, so they jumped hard on it...again and again.  It's still hanging around and probably should have retired 6 months ago, but it's still here.

There are always reasons for sets to retire. With the risk of being too obvious for many members, I'll sum up some good ones:

1. Lack of popularity and sales growth: example the arctic line-up

2. Retirement/upgrade of molds: example CC, TH, light grey pieces 

3. Shelf space (less a problem these days as it seems the biggest shelf for TLG has become LEGO Shop at Home): SSD, many large Technic Sets

4. Strategy: e.g. box size reduction > TH, end of Lego Games

5. Licence lenght & cost of renewal: LoTR, Harry Potter

6. Set Refreshes: City, Friends, Trains, MF ... etc

The fact that resellers are lengthening the sales cycle of popular 'investment-like' products, impaires the previously faster trigger reason n°1 for EoL. It seems only normal that as long as resellers are willing to stock away product, TLG can continue to produce & sell. 

Solution: find under the radar sets ...

or

...those which will get retired even though the are very popular!!
