Bought a bit of lego today and instead of a discount I got a store display of lego chima. See picture below.

 

 

Does anyone have a clue what they are going for? I know it is a longshot but there are many experts here.

The value is in the eye of the beholder...

 

To some they are worth $0, and others maybe $150-$200

 

Store displays are pretty unique, which means your marketplace is pretty small.

 

I love em, but they do take up space.

I know Chima is not as popular as for example Star Wars. But there must be some Chima-nut out there who likes to have this.

What place gave you this? I'd love to have some star-wars displays, but probably not after-market.

I would wait until after the sets inside have retired before selling.  Currently, the value is probably slightly higher than the value of the sets inside.

What place gave you this? I'd love to have some star-wars displays, but probably not after-market.

 

A toyshop in my area. The lady is always very nice to me. But never as nice as today. 

 

I do not know where to get these. I just stumbled upon them today. As far as I could see they had 5 displays there. I could see another chima the same as mine, ninjago and city I believe. Do not know if the chima one was the best I could get. But I really like it even when being chima. The Cragger's Command Ship is one of the nicest sets chima has in my opinion. Never in my life I saw star wars displays. That would even be more sweet if I would have gotten one of those!

Thanks Noodlenut. Probably you are right. I should keep it until the sets are retired.

 

Also my two year old son cannot stop looking at it and playing with the light. I cannot get it over my heart to sell it now. 

This one goes for about $125, or so. I don't really think that displays "appreciate" over time like normal LEGO sets. Most LEGO collectors don't know about these and don't buy them. I'd just keep it. Too good to let go!

Update:

 

I have it listed for two days now on my local craigslist to see what people offer. It started very low with 20 euro. But slowly it arrived to 200 euro this morning. Do not know if the bidder is serious cause a bid on this craigslist is not binding. Wonder where this ends!

Because your kid loves it, if I were you I would simply offer it to him so he can put it in his room (a good way for you to save some space, ah ah).

You will still be able to resell it later when he will be tired of it (the only issue with that is about the sunfade and plastic yellowing)

I don't think they really go up in value unless the sets inside are really popular. But I don't think it will lose value, so there is less risk.

Pics? I assume you are referring the the display of the old UCS X-Wing that was in TRU. I believe it should have a mirror in it...
