June 13, 201312 yr not by much, mint boxes are overrated, try and read through the forum before asking, ppl have been discussing about it, many many times
June 14, 201312 yr I agree with the above. I bought a damaged box one from Lego Store in Milton Keynes for 10% off,
June 14, 201312 yr My Tower Bridge arrived with a damaged box yesterday, maybe even a little worse than yours. 5 min on a chat with Amazon Support, I opted for the discount offer. They knocked off another $49.99 which brought the purchase price down to $180.
June 14, 201312 yr Thats minor damage, shouldnt be a problem, alot of people really dont care about the box, they jut buy MISB because it assures all the pieces are there.
June 14, 201312 yr I don't see damaged boxes affect the price much at all. I mean, more people buying this stuff intend to open it, built it and then throw away the box anyways. Sometimes they go for less but sometimes they annoyingly go for the same price.
June 14, 201312 yr I would contact Amazon and complain and see if you can get a small refund. Otherwise, just keep the box. The damage looks minor and won't really make a difference to most buyers.
June 15, 201312 yr I have just increased my collection of 10214 Tower Bridge sets and there are different boxes. Some have the details on the front of the box (age, no. of pieces etc) and some don't. I think this is just different box styles for different markets (US and EUR), but they were all bought from the same place, Amazon Italy. I read a post on something similar a while ago but i cant find it anymore. If anyone knows more, please let me know.
June 15, 201312 yr European boxes have no peice count on them like the US boxes do. This is for all sets not just the TB. The consensus here is that it will not add or take away value from the set. I guess that means Amazon gets their sets from different places, some from US and some from European countries.
June 15, 201312 yr No problem! Hopefully the TB will be done this year, I am anxious to see how it will do.
June 15, 201312 yr Also, depending on the year produced (e.***. pre 2013 vs 2013) the piece count is different (4287 vs 4295) as Lego made a production change this year due to discontinued parts.

They were all bought from with in the EU. Of course I have been reading so much lego history and looking at pictures of boxes from throughout the decades my brain may have got a bit addled :)
June 15, 201312 yr VC? Victoria Cross?Vampyre Castle, unless I'm being baited into a joke in which case I say Very Clever.
June 17, 201312 yr I haven't been around here for a "Black Friday." I assume you guys mean the Friday after Thanksgiving, but is this an official Lego promotion (and how many sets do they usually discount?) or are you talking about Black Friday sales that might show up at individual retailers like TRU, Walmart, Target, etc?
June 18, 201312 yr Mercedes. A car that is really quick on one lap, but very slow in the race. Ouch! HAHAHA!!! GO Team AnyoneButVettel!
June 19, 201312 yr Update: Contacted Amazon by chat but they said they would have to check and get back to me. I then got an email response back saying they would just ship a replacement and to return the original. Reading the above comments, I'm not sure if I'm disappointed that a discount was not offered instead, (as it's an investment piece), but I have emailed back suggesting such, so will see what they say, if anything. At the end of the day, at worst I'll end up with what I expected when placing the order anyway so win win I suppose
June 19, 201312 yr Either way is good in the end. If they offer you a refund, great, but if they just tell you to send it back for a replacement you can do that as well and will probably get that Mint box. You can't lose.

Chances are the replacement will have condition issues also due to the box size. Amazon's track record shipping larger sets just isn't good. Hence, I just started taking partial refunds when needed. I also take pictures just in case they ever need them (even for future reference). However, there are times when they surprise me and the boxes arrived in good to excellent condition.
July 4, 201312 yr How about a bump to this thread? Any news yet on TB retiring...I'm waiting to pull the trigger on a set
July 4, 201312 yr I would get one as soon as you see it discounted. It will probably be around for a while, but with the Sidney Opera House coming out I don't think it will be that long before it is gone.
July 4, 201312 yr Does it get discounted on amazon every now and then? It's only there or LEGO Shop at Home retail right?
July 4, 201312 yr Amazon has discounted it some times at 219.99. Other than that online stores of Walmart and Target usually carry it as well, so keep your eyes open for discounts.
