The Tower Bridge (set 10214) is the third largest set ever. The lego store has it listed as "out of stock, will ship in 30 days." I feel that this set is close to the end of its lifetime because it was originally released in 2010. I am thinking about picking this set up for investment purposes. What do you guys think? The two closest relatives of this set are the Eiffel Tower and Taj Mahal, both of which have increased dramatically after retirement.

If I was just starting out, the Tower Bridge would be in my top 3 choices for investment purposes if I was looking to invest that money in the next 30 days.  Red Five and Pet Shop would also make the list.  This month you can get a free Winter Soldier polybag if you buy through LEGO Shop at Home.  That's a good collectors item that you can either sell or hold for long-term.

Move on this one now while you can folks. It's got all the "right stuff". Demand for this set won't go away, ever. It's a bulletproof investment and a rare opportunity.

I made exceptions today.  10% off with the Merlin Pass.  It was a pristine box, not use to that in my collection.  Stands out from the other misfits lol

tonight will be damage shopping

I'm wondering if I'll regret the decision to accumulate some Death Stars over TBs the past couple of months.  I have my minimum target but watching the prices on Amazon and eBay have me thinking twice about putting a cap on my quota.

Never mind. I'm glad I bought both!

I just saw 3 TB in local lego store. All PS, PC, SOH and DS are gone quickly once it's on shelf from salesman. Some how TB are still so available and make me think this thing will never retire...

I doubt they'll make such a statement unless the supplier has told them that they definitely won't get any more.

go check the "what I heard from a Lego Store employee..." thread for all the erroneous misinformation LS employees have provided over the years.  It's truly hilarious, especially with the benefit of hindsight.

Although we all know we have to take lego employees's statements with a grain of sault. I tend to have more faith in the statement of lego store employees in South-Africa than in the statements of European or US Lego employees. I am confident enoiugh to state the reseller community in South-Africa is not as big as in the US and Europe. So I might conclude that the employees there are still innocent and tell the truth. At least as far as they know and are told.

That would assume all Lego employees are actually given information, and choose or are instructed to provide bad information purposefully only in the US and EU.  I just think none of them are ever told much of anything.

Conclude whatever you want from my statement. I did not say that all information given in the US and/or Europe is false and with intent to deceive. General consensus here is to take a statement of a lego store employee with a grain of sault.

Maybe production of the TB is halted till January? Like assumingly is happening now with the EV? And the subject south african lego store employee did maybe tell the truth. For as far as he knows?

No matter what... would it be a big surprise if TB is done?

I wouldn't consider it a big surprise, but I'm certainly not buying one based on a Lego Store employee's recommendation.  Time and again these guys have given buyers incorrect information - all chronicled in the other thread - regardless of where on the planet they live.

I'm not calling anyone a liar, I just don't believe anything any LS employee reportedly says regarding retirement.  Others are free to do as they please.
