How do you feel about buying stolen goods? CL ad

Featured Replies

I sell many sets without the box, maybe he tried to do so on eBay to save on shipping but decided to try CL instead.

And the lot calculator came in around $260 so it's a decent discount from new, but not outrageously so.

It wouldn't be a bad deal if you were going to buy these sets for yourself. If I lived in that area, I would have bought the lot after verifying that they are all complete. I wouldn't want to buy only half a haunted house when the seller claimed to have everything.

Probably be more difficult to smuggle these bags out of the store then to just grab the box and make a dash for the exit

Jokes aside, there really is no way to tell if these are stolen are not. More than likely the box was damaged and these were simply removed.

I doubt those are stolen. If they were still in the box then I would be more suspicious. Now, he could have purchased the set, took it home, emptied the contents, replaced with cheap junk that sounds like lego, re-sealed the packages, then returned them to the store hoping they don't check inside to get is money back. Seems like a lot of trouble and risk for a couple hundred bucks. Who knows. Some people are just weird.

There is a box piece in the lower corner.

I think it's the instruction sheet. Check pictures 2, 3 and 4. :)

The area listed with the auction makes me assume they are stolen goods. Not a nice neighborhood here in NJ.

I could be completely wrong and it could be 100% legit but I wouldn't risk the trip.

I have a feeling that they pulled the old buy the item, take out the bags, refill the box with some "stuff" and return to the store. Someone posted that happening to them just recently with a SPiderman Daily Bugle.  That's what I meant by poor soul getting an empty box, I should have said box with NOT lego inside.
