FIFA WC BRAZIL 2014

I figured with 65 days to go, now is a good time to start a thread for the real Football fans on BP (j/k). :fans:

Anything related to WC preparations, squads, players, coaches,, and ultimately games can be discussed here . Things will probably heat up as we closer to June but why not start a bit early .

Please make sure any discussion is civil, respectful, and no trolling.

So, who do think will win? which team are you cheering? who will be the dark horse? will the USA make it out of the first round?

FIFA seeding is borderline joke...the way they tally points doesn't really reflect the reality on the pitch. Also the WC has become way too diluted with subpar teams solely for marketing/f

Spain sucks!

Well........so much for that faint glimmer of hope for Australia standing their ground. They will be schooled well today by Sanchez and his boys.

Cahill and his ever reliable header....he may yet save the day...

Ah well...I guess Australia has got nothing to lose in the next 2 matches.

Wow Netherlands. Man. Just incredible.

I don't think anyone saw that coming.

Guess the Dutch were a little pissed about that final in 2010.

Van Gall was a sorcerer today. what  a game for the Dutch... how many brackets fell today?

Ned v Esp was a great game.  Had money on Spain, but nevermind.  That header from RVP is going to take some beating for goal of the tourney.

Cant wait for some games this morning. Until then - clean the house.

Wow. No Buffon in goal for Italy. Didn't know they even had other keepers in Italy.

Sirigu is a good goalkeeper, but Buffon is a leader and is a big loss for Italy

Is he out for the entire tournament? I read he twisted his ankle yesterday

So far just today. They announced it on the pre-game coverage of the Colombia/Greece match. It didn't sound that serious from what I read last night, but apparently bad enough to keep him out.

Tx. missed the pre game.

Good stuff. Rooting hard for CR. Watched them a few times against US in qualifying (the much talked about snow game!) & I'm also anti-Luis Suarez (no offense Liverpool/Uruguay fans). Yes, I know he's good, but hard to get passed his antics.

he put his act together this year. He had a phenomenal season. I love watching him play.

Brutal loss and red card for Uruguay.

Number of goals after the first six games at the tournament:

World Cup 2014: 22

World Cup 2010: 8

That Pereira guy... A piece of work

England's strikeforce of Sturridge, Sterling, Welbeck & Rooney could be one of the most potent of this WC....

Pirlo the heart of the Italian team. Always a joy to watch him command the troops
