FIFA WC BRAZIL 2014

I figured with 65 days to go, now is a good time to start a thread for the real Football fans on BP (j/k). :fans:

Anything related to WC preparations, squads, players, coaches,, and ultimately games can be discussed here . Things will probably heat up as we closer to June but why not start a bit early .

Please make sure any discussion is civil, respectful, and no trolling.

So, who do think will win? which team are you cheering? who will be the dark horse? will the USA make it out of the first round?

FIFA seeding is borderline joke...the way they tally points doesn't really reflect the reality on the pitch. Also the WC has become way too diluted with subpar teams solely for marketing/f

I think they will get a free pass to at least the semis, if not, the final. Remember South Korea in 2002? The host nation always has bias referees helping them

Yeah, if they get help from the refs then there's nothing that any other team can do.

I marked them for elimination as in the round of 8 they'll have to play whoever ends up in second place in group D, assuming that this team beats the winner of group C.

The Koreas tend to always luck out with stuff like that. In 2006, North Korea got a goal against France that was not even close to a goal.

I though Brazil was decent yesterday, but Croatia's keeper has to play better. A piss poor performance from him. Really let Brazil off the hook.

I do think that flop and PK was terrible.  Why can't there be video replay, especially on penalty kicks?  I would like video replay on offsides as well.  Isn't the most important thing an accurate and honest result?

Was very disappointed in the opening match.

All 4 goals were lame and defendable.
Let's hope for some intensity today.

C'mon the refereeing has got to be better with regards to awarding penalties..Costa milks it again

I haven't seen such bad refereeing in quite a while... 2-hours to be precise

What a header RVP!

When RVP is healthy he is in the top 3 of forwards. Again, when he is healthy.

Now Robben is fired up...cool head and great finish to the goal!

Spain is not looking so good

When RVP is healthy he is in the top 3 of forwards. Again, when he is healthy.

He sure is healthy today!

Its a good day to be Arjen Robben!

Robben hat trick.....? He sure is still fired up

He's still got it...

The referee really sucked in Mexico's game they anulled two legitimate goals...... next step.... beat Brazil..... Again.....

The Netherlands have pretty much sealed their spot in the Round of 16 now, with that goal difference against Spain.

He's still got it...

He's definitely got it - watching the replays now, twice he's kept a cool head, beaten 2 defenders and casillas to hammer it in. A luxury for Van Gaal to have him, RVP and Sneijder at his disposal.

Just watched the replays, good to see Dos Santos has still got it

OK...up next Chile vs Australia....time to see with Ange can make a surprise difference

Spain-Holland: too much porn
