FIFA WC BRAZIL 2014

I figured with 65 days to go, now is a good time to start a thread for the real Football fans on BP (j/k). :fans:

Anything related to WC preparations, squads, players, coaches,, and ultimately games can be discussed here . Things will probably heat up as we closer to June but why not start a bit early .

Please make sure any discussion is civil, respectful, and no trolling.

So, who do think will win? which team are you cheering? who will be the dark horse? will the USA make it out of the first round?

    FIFA seeding is borderline joke...the way they tally points doesn't really reflect the reality on the pitch. Also the WC has become way too diluted with subpar teams solely for marketing/f

Agreed!

Brazil's defence is pathetic. Glad they've been exposed by a decent European side. Far too overrated!

And the crying and carrying on last game turned me against them.

They're just too lightweight to compete with European teams

Now I'm not sad anymore about France losing to Germany 1-0.

20min to go. Hell goes on for Brazil, I hope they will have at least one goal.

Not sure that will happen Brazil have already "stopped playing" in the 73rd minute. Still trying though.

Ozil needs to get on board or retire international football. He is too laid back. sweini was gonna chew his head off #leadership

Argentina... You feel like playing the Germans sunday? ;)

Whoever makes it to the final, let's hope it'll be more of a match. What a slaughter!

just two? i can count at least three. i am sure there are more ...

1. klose now the highest number of goal (#16) scorer in WC.

2. Most number of goals conceeded and/or scored in first half.

3. highest number of total goals scored in all WC cumulative. i think its #224 (by germany). previously it was at #221(by brazil)

there should be lot more records that were broken :D

Klose - what a WC legend, the goal hunter's still got it.

Neuer - impenetrable...

Now I'll hope for a Netherlands Germany final, and a Brazil Argentina 3rd place match (this one, if it eventuates, will be intense)

Although a Germany Argentina final will also be exciting - a bit of bad blood at the 2006 WC

Semifinals :

Netherlands v Argentina

4pm Est

Anyone dare to predict the score :)

I will...Brazil's national nightmare continues with Argentina winning 2-1.

Dutch win by 1 or 2 to nil.

What a bad day. But I am proud of our national team for what they accomplished. Before this WC nobody gave us a chance.

Good tactical game by the Dutch ... They played pretty well towards the end of the second half and onwards . Kept Messi really quiet

Looks like Germany is taking it all!

No Lego's for us!

Wondering why Van Gaal did not plan to use Krul again today...though whether he would have made a difference we will never know.

He couldn't because he already made three substitues :

* Bruno Martins Indi @ 46'

* Nigel de Jong @ 62'

* Robin van Persie @ 96'

Otherwise he would surely done it (which he also stated on the press conference after the game).

Germany will likely be the winners of this cup.

Watching the match today, seemed to me like Brazil playing like Ivory Coast  - lots of individual talent, but lacking coordination and support for each other, bouts of complacency. Without Neymar's threat up front, they had nothing.

Lots of egos and hearts broken today, I thought they were going to at least redeem themselves at home by lifting for this game.

Well done Netherlands, that last injury time goal was sweet (though the Brazilian back line seemed like they couldn't care less at that point!)
