FIFA WC BRAZIL 2014

I figured with 65 days to go, now is a good time to start a thread for the real Football fans on BP (j/k). :fans:

Anything related to WC preparations, squads, players, coaches,, and ultimately games can be discussed here . Things will probably heat up as we closer to June but why not start a bit early .

Please make sure any discussion is civil, respectful, and no trolling.

So, who do think will win? which team are you cheering? who will be the dark horse? will the USA make it out of the first round?

FIFA seeding is borderline joke...the way they tally points doesn't really reflect the reality on the pitch. Also the WC has become way too diluted with subpar teams solely for marketing/f

Apparently a lot of us would't have guessed that spain would go out in the group stage.

This is proving to be quite an exciting and well matched world cup!

It has been a great WC so far. Lots of good teams. The knockout rounds will be exciting.

Espn3 when possible

Didn't think I could stream through ESPN3 since I don't have cable TV at home. I do have internet though and can apparently stream ESPN3 using just my internet account.

cheers

I see Ivory Coast, England and a tie for today's games.

I see Ivory Coast, England and a tie for today's games.

Curious if Suarez is gonna play. Did they announce formations?

My crystal ball says:

Colombia 2 Ivory Coast 1

Uruguay 1 England 2

Japan 0 Greece 0

I think England might come out really attacking.

Feel bad for Austrailia. They really played their hearts out and still lost against the dutch. So many wasted chances.

If you are Austrailias manager, how are you going to pull out Tim Cahill 2/3 through the game. Your ALL TIME leading goal scorer?

Suarez has said that he's fit to play so I do expect they put him in the starting 11.

I expect him to play even if he's not at 100%. It's do or die situation for both teams. Uruguay has the worst between the two of them since their last match is against Italy.

1 down , 2 to go

Sounds good for France :pleasantry:

Sweet game

Not if you're English

It is ....painful....watching this ....Japan Greece match........

At least Rooney is finally on the scoresheet

Suarez the goal predator - it is his natural instinct to hunt goals

This Greece Japan match may be the one with most yellow cards to date?

Italy v Costa Rica : 12pm Est

Switzerland v France: 3pm  Est

Honduras v Ecuador: 6pm Est

I think an Italian win by a 1 goal margin and two draws.

I am suddently becoming a Costa Rica fan...wasn't this supposed to be the Group of Death -- Italy, England, Uruguay, and Costa Rica?  If CR ends up coming out of there that will be a huge shock!

They've done it decisively by winning their 2 initial matches, despite being the lowest ranked on the FIFA world rankings in this Group of Death. Hats off to them, hope they go far.

Well..with a bit of bad luck, unfortunately England are out. Hopefully they'll continue to develop the youth in the team, should have a better showing at the next Euro.

Benzema's another player that continues to mature and get better, just goes about quietly doing his job effectively, scoring in tight situations or assisting goals. Great run and perfect cross by Giroud to Valbuena too for the 3rd French goal against the Swiss.

Italy Uruguay will likely be a superb match to watch - do or die for both teams!
