I used Brinklink for the 1st time. I was hoping for some advise or confirm that's the way it is. I would search a part, the stores with the part appear. I would go to that store, add it to the bag. When I searched a second part needed, not available at this store. It seems that I have to get multiple parts from multiple stores. Driving up the price for all the shipping.

That's the way it works unless you can find a store with all your needs.  Bricklink doesn't want you to buy the cheapest part because they get a commission on every sale, so why promote "cheap" parts?  Maybe the new version will have a tool to help you find bricks from the least amount of stores as possible.  Other members who know more about this might be able to help you more than I.

Am pretty sure it would be easier for you to make a wanted list of your needed parts. I think you can then compare the different stores

that have them or also perhaps be able to see which stores have the majority of your wanted parts.

 

It's not designed to make buyers be forced to buy from multiple sellers, but there's thousands of sellers with different quantity and pricing. Try

to find the majority in the least amount of stores and that will lower the shipping costs involved.

Yes, the Wanted List is what you want - it's not a pretty website, but it does have a lot of cool, functional things that work well, and the wanted list is among them.

Wanted list all the way. Plus you get alerts if new ones are listed

Use the wanted lists, then search "wanted lists" by store then filter by unique parts. You'll still have to most likely put in multiple orders...but this will cut down on how many?

Another strategy is if you have a unique or expensive part, to search your wanted list by that cheapest price for it, ten adding what else you can.

Last suggestion: at first, I felt the need to "complete sets" as fast as I could - which led to multiple orders. Now I know that, unless I "need" a part to sell a complete set, I can let my wanted lists grow large because it cuts down on sending multiple orders.

It's great once you get used to it....and I've ordered internationally with no problems!

Remember, once you have created a wanted list, when you go into a shop it will tell you how many parts on your list is available from that store. You can spend hours searching for parts. Sometimes, you can find a store with no miminmum offering cheap post and the part price cheap too. Set the search engine to show you the cheapest price first, in you account profile, set it to display 500 items per page rather than the default of 10, look for shop with the most expensive part at best price. See how many more items you ca get on your wanted list. Some shop on bricklink are miles better than other with huge inventories, but some of the small shops are good too. Also, when you get good quality parts in your whole order from a seller remember where you got them (if buying used) as some sellers are higher standards than others, as you may find out some will send you broken yellowed just plain awful parts. Also, sometimes a cheap part will be poor quality sometimes it I'll be a good buy. Don't be afraid to ask questions, getting talking to a seller can lad to discounts on future return purchases. If the sellers says ihe only sells excellent quality parts and has lots of rare specialist parts that only someone with a good knowledge of lego will know, they are more than Likely telling the truth, as I say, get to know your seller if you are going after high price are items.

Not surprised. A lot of good info in a short time. I will try the programs tomorrow. I contacted Lego, they told me some parts were discontinued. I also ordered pieces from Lego. Don't want to do that again. More expensive then bricklinks and I still waiting and it's been a while.
