April 4, 201411 yr has anyone else seen this its a harry potter spin off that's in the early stages that takes place decades before the main story sounds like another lego cash cow to me
April 4, 201411 yr Yeah, as a fan of the HP books and movies, and of course, the Lego sets, I'm looking forward to it! =)
May 14, 201510 yr http://variety.com/2015/film/news/eddie-redmayne-cast-harry-potter-fantastic-beasts-and-where-to-find-them-1201493502/Really hope it happens and that they re-release a whole new set of Harry Potter Legos.... having missed out the first time.
May 14, 201510 yr I fear this will be the Hobbit of Harry Potter movie wise. This was a 50 page or so book. "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ is neither a prequel nor a sequel to the ‘Harry Potter’ series but an extension of the wizarding world,” Rowling explained." No prequel btw. May 14, 201510 yr Great news for Harry Potter and LEGO collectors. Sounds like an opportunity for LEGO to produce a whole army of new mini and maxi figures.

May 14, 201510 yr I hope they feature Harry's birth.A prequel where they show the birth of the hero of the original movies and that hero has mystical powers. Who would ever come up with such a daft idea?

May 14, 201510 yr Not sure this sound promising. There really seems to be little connection with the harry potter books, Its really sounding like an over blown hollywood production. I predict lots of effects and action with little in the way of plots and story lines. I am also not sure who they will target for their audience. most core potter fans are now in their 20s and early 30s, not a key movie going demographic these days. going after pre and early teens who have no really connection to potter, is quite a different movie than going after the potter fans.Set in New York roughly seven decades before Harry Potter’s saga starts, “Fantastic Beasts” is based on the Hogwarts textbook of the same name and follows the adventures of its author, Newt Scamander. Scamander is described as a “magiczoologist,” which in the “Harry Potter” realm is a person who studies magical creatures. Besides Scamander, there are four other main roles — two American girls and two American boys — that the studio is looking to cast.“Although it will be set in the worldwide community of witches and wizards where I was so happy for 17 years, ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ is neither a prequel nor a sequel to the ‘Harry Potter’ series but an extension of the wizarding world,” Rowling explained. as for the lego connection, I suspect the license is long gone. will have to wait and see if they go after the new stuff. May 14, 201510 yr The only HP characters that could appear in this are younger versions of some HP teachers, perhaps Doubledoor (or his twin) ? The setting is 70 years in the past, so even Voldermort is not born yet. I am thinking this will be more like Jurrassic Park but with dragons, griffins, centaurs, unicorns, phoenix, etc etc In other words, you can just watch Narnia:The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe movie
June 9, 20169 yr Looks like we could be in line for some sets from Fantastic Beasts following the appearance of Newt Scamander in the new Dimensions trailer - fantastic news!!
August 8, 20169 yr So we're expecting new Harry Potter film by Nov 18th, but not heard any rumour about new lego sets? Does it mean TLG has no rights anymore to create and commercialise new lego sets? But it has rights to do so with Dimensions??? Either new sets arrive or not, it should be good news for holders of iconic sets such as Castle 4842 and Diagon 10217 right? Edited August 8, 20169 yr by Laudrup16
August 8, 20169 yr There will be new Fantastic Beasts story and fun packs for LEGO Dimensions in late fall. I have not heard anything outside of those though

August 28, 20169 yr Curious what the opinions are on this as well, particularly 10217 Diagon Alley..... I've been eyeing that up recently thinking I should jump on it. Is now the time? Is it likely to climb higher than it has already? [Does anyone have one for cheap they want to set me up with? ]
August 28, 20169 yr I never got into Star Wars, but know how people that did feel due to Harry Potter! There are very few things I spend money on for myself and the castle and diagonal alley were 2 I did! I actually have 2 4842 castles and 1 diagonal alley all used but I doubt I will ever sell them. My kids know I love them and they love them too
