We heard a rumor about there being CMF's for the new movie.  Will these be series 12 or will we see these break away?

It will be a completely separate series altogether the same way how Olympic Team GB was. On that note, I have no idea how regular stores will carry those. I'd hate to think they would have them as Lego store & Shop-at-Home exclusives. No way I'm getting stuck buying a random mystery pack online.

Never too soon to start the thread... besides 1st rumor is available and series 11 is being released within a month or 2 as far as I am informed.

No, the first pics came out a month or two ago and rumors well before that. So will this mean the mini figs will come out well before the movie is released?

We had the list for Series 11 far back as November of last year actually.

So will this mean the mini figs will come out well before the movie is released?

Series 12 should be available in general by January of next year which will be a little bit before the movie's theatrical premiere.

I'm not sure if I'm a fan of this idea yet. If they do release "vintage" figures like the rumors suggest, I hope they are totally unchanged.

I'm not keen on the idea of using a Series in the Minifigures line as a means to basically promote the film. Plus there already is a number of sets coming out based on The Lego Movie so I don't get why they need to outright replace a Series with characters we could already be getting from the sets. Sixteen is a high number but I seriously doubt they will do straight up re-releases of classic minifigures from way back in the day. If anything, we should only see brand new ones from The Lego Movie.

To add to the topic, here is the article from The Brick Fan stating Series 12 will have minifigures only based on the upcoming The Lego Movie.

I've seen the trailer.  Hope series 12 is not just from the movie.

I figured somewhere down the line going by patterns in the Collectable Minifigures line Lego would release an alternate ('evil') version of their Super Wrestler character. There's another I predicted! Now to wait for the whole list to pop up somewhere....

I was not expecting this, but an official image of series 12 was just revealed!!  It looks like a very good series, and they are all from The Lego Movie.  In my opinion, this is the best series yet, and I will probably be collecting most of it.  I don't really like the mermaid.

I agree. The only ones that I want multiples for is the Panda Guy, Taco Tuesday dude, and Larry the Barista.  I hope they are able to do some even distribution this time.

That's what I thought.  When I heard they were all coming from The Lego Movie, I was really disappointed, but after seeing the series, I'm really excited about it.

Don't think they are as good as the past series.  Panda and taco guy are the favs. and the extra cell phones are needed for my town people  Movie trailer looks great can't wait to go and stand in line w/o kids and weird the parents out

And those big red glasses are looking familiar too... and so are the pants... it could be the same minifigure but with her hair down and a different shirt.

Not too interested in the Lego Movie figures for Series 12, but I do like Abe, Shakespeare, the girl in the front row with the colorful hair, and the cop(for the helmet).  Too many of these are almost exact copies of others we've already had, like Taco Tuesday guy, Mermaid, Grandma.  And who wants more construction workers?  I'll probably end up getting most, if not all, since we're kind of collecting these figures, but it will be hard to swallow paying for some of these.  Overall, this is a middling Series.

I like the panda.  It makes we want Chinese food.

Beat me to it! Some great figs and I suspect we'll grow to love the less instantly lovable ones once we know the characters from the film. Hope the distribution is equal to but doubt it! ABe will be rare.
