Hey guys, I was wondering when you think the supplies of the Martain Manhunter will go out of stock, because I had a paycheck coming in on the 16th and didn't know if it would last till then?

  • If Lego did an exclusive SW or SH polybag every month, sales would certainly increase for LEGO Shop at Home.

  •   This ^^^^  Martian Manhunter is a big deal to comic fans--especially DC ones.  I can see this figure being sought after by such fans even if they don't care a lick about legos as a whole

  •   I think the 6 & 8 year olds have the right idea.  They don't care about Marvel this or DC that.  They just like Superheroes!  That's the way to be.   Not to mention they

Probably going to be zoo-like situation...

I live in NJ and I know different areas of the country will run out sooner than others...

the brickfan just posted something saying that the martian manhunter is gone from shop@home

still adds them to the order. I assume they send you nice "ni" email _after_ you place an order?

yeah hes said you will get an email saying "sorry but due to overwhelming demand the martian manhunter promo has been ended early."

Hmm, let's see if I get one from the Horizon Express I just ordered in the UK.  (Orders usually take about 4 days to arrive though.)

I hope the Martian Manhunter fig appreciates well. I don't want it to end up like Jor-El and Hoth Han Solo. Any ideas if they are doing a figure promo for May 4th? I may hold off on 2x vip if theres one in May.

Some U.S. folks on Brickset said they've called and S@H confirmed they are out of stock.  I don't mean to add another car to the rumor train.

What was the story with those two? Were there too many of them?

I believe there are just so many more flippers (and re-flippers) who are willing to accept any profit - They will rise, but just not as quickly as they might have in the past.

I think there is a version of Han in Hoth Echo Base and a Russell Crowe minifig???

Guaranteed they will do a figure, it's just a matter of who it is.  There have been pictures of that red droid, not sure if that will be it or not.

I'm going by the bricklink prices and both are not selling as well as the Hulk and TC-14 which I think were the previous year's promos. Also Hoth Han Solo wasn't the most exciting figure.

Not sure about Jor-El. Maybe since noone seems to like this version of Superman, noone likes this version of the father either ?

Has there been a faster sellout for an item at LEGO Shop at Home. I think last years X-Mas sets lasted longer than this. I ended up getting exactly the number of MM I wanted. 1 for my PC and 2 for investment.

By the way this figure is a HOLD. Don't sell now. Wait and in a year this will be a $30 dollar fig.

I thought that recent police ATV promo also ended quite soon, no?

Yeah it did. lets remember - no one has any idea if they make the same amount of each or how many each is.

It seems to me that maybe it's because they are more obscure than the mainline characters, no? I mean, someone mentioned that the promo Hulk is doing better than Jor-El and that seems fairly logical when you think about how much more mainline the Hulk is. Same applies to TC-14 who looks like a chrome C-3PO vs. Hoth Han who looks like some dude in a parka.

This makes me think that Martian Man Hunter won't live up to the resale hype that the early sellout indicates, because frankly, who is Martian Man Hunter?

Add the fact that my wife said something to the effect of "he looks kinds dumb and ugly" and I was happy to pass and wait for 2x points.

MM is a founding member of the JLA.  He has been around DC comics for a long, long time.

Never heard of her.....

It felt to me like Jor-El wasn't that special. He could be easily customized from a personal collection OR look better. It wasn't that great of a representation of the actor.

But I kinda liked Man of Steel...

I heard it's another police helicopter next month.....

There are a lot of people though who DO know who he is, thinks he's awesome, and are thrilled about him being an official LEGO minifigure. Mostly fans of the TV series Justice League and Justice League Unlimited, with writer Paul Dini, writer for Batman: The Animated Series. He, like Aquaman, was under-appreciated for a long time. Since New 52 though, he and Aquaman are pretty frickin' awesome.

I'm glad I was able to get one but I would liked a couple more.

Only managed to get 2, going to check the local Lego store tomorrow on my way home from work as they usually have stock a week or so later than shop@home does, but who knows :(

This ^^^^  Martian Manhunter is a big deal to comic fans--especially DC ones.  I can see this figure being sought after by such fans even if they don't care a lick about legos as a whole.  I would argue he's as central to the history of the DC universe as some of the more high profile characters (in other words, those that constantly get action figures made of them--I'm looking at you Bats) and so the fact that you can get "something" of him will make him a nice piece to have.

One thing I would definitely recommend if you are looking to invest in Super Heroes is to do some research on the characters and comics themselves if you're not already well versed in this field.  Know the difference between a movie version and a comic book version of a character, and then know the difference between various comic book versions (yellow suited Wolverine vs. brown and tan suited Wolverine, for instance) because some versions are more iconic or come from a specific storyline that now has great significance.  Know the difference between a major character and an over-exposed character (not always the same thing).  Know which heroes/villains go together (example--Captain America and the Falcon were sidekicks for a long time in the comics which is why he's in the new Cap movie.  Everybody likes the Hulk Lab Smash set for Hulk and Taskmaster, but don't overlook Falcon with the new Cap/Red Skull set).  Follow the trends for other Super Hero collectibles (there are lots--statues, action figures, the comics themselves) to see what's big, and pay attention to cartoons and video games as they could hint at what could be on the horizon.

I got mine today from the order I placed back on the 2nd of March.  Happy to just have one.
