I have been watching the site and contributed only a couple of times, so, as someone relatively new, I get kind of lost when reading posts from people and see things such as "YMMV" or "AS."  (I know 'AS' is Architecture Studio but no clue still about the other)

I can figure it out if I read enough posts, but I thought this forum could be used for people to ask questions about abbreviations and for more active members to share any they may be willing to.

I know there isn't a universal system for these abbreviations but maybe some order could be made.

MoM????

BM or B&M - "brick and mortar", means actual physical store (as in opposite to online)

Whoa! Careful with this one.  Those of us with kids have a different interpretation of BM.  J

DNIIM = Guy who typed IDHAMMTKBTS

AA = Arkham Asylum

SC = Sopwith Camel

T1= Volkswagen Camper

TOK= The Orc King

SCUBA = Self Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus

I'm glad you pointed this out because I thought everyone was calling it a Mo Fo. (Dats gansta foh Mutha ..........)

We do have nice list of abbreviations in the Frequently Asked Questions area.  I am sure we can add a few of these listed here, but the bottom line is, even if you build a list here, 2 months down the road someone will ask the same questions and it will start all over again.

Maybe makes sense to put it somewhere more visible, and make it expandable?

I think we should not use abbreviations, even more so with set numbers.

The purpose is to save time but often we end up with at least one more post asking what it is. With set numbers, readers often have to look up the number to find the set name.

Posts like this will make it hard for everyone:

"Picked up 2 BE from TRU today, saw a small discount on MC2 but passed"

Lego maintains 200 sets each year, how are we going to keep up?
