We certainly have some high level execs from TLG among us.......I mean how else could some of you speak with such absolute certainty about these sets. I would think having such a high profile job with

Not sure if we're putting date codes in this thread, but just in case, the GE I bought last week from Lego.com has a date code of 18R4, which puts it at the end of April of this year (if we are correct).

Yeah, that's a known run. There was nothing newer than that, reported, so far

this mean that there should be lot more of these sets coming to market.

if they just made a run on end of april and beginning of may.. its very less likely that it will just vanish in less than 2 months.

they must have at least made few thousands if not more.

Unless demand was higher than they anticipated.  If you are a newish investor and missed out on the FB, you might make an effort to pick up GEs sooner rather than later.  That goes for non-investors as well - buying from the secondary market sucks, and the GE has been out the longest among modulars and would be next in line to retire.

I'm hoping this is the case, and demand was a higher than anticipated (they were hoping this set would make it to at least Bricktober?) but that after the April run changes were made to gear up for new sets and it would take too much time/cost to make another batch.

There will be no more made. GE is done. There was a reason it was not in the last catalog. A few will appear at LEGO Shop at Home for returned/cancelled orders but unless they divert stock from Europe it is EOL in the USA.

There are still Lego store's that have these, I got 2 more at Arundel Mills yesterday they had quite a few, they would only let me buy 2, for you guys who missed out on the Fire Brigade don't miss out on this set.

Well I know of more than a few larger resellers that had hundreds of FB that sold them all years ago when it was evident they would not be retired after 3 years and they never restocked. I know it was heavily bought as well as heavily sold prior to retiring. I think the idea that alot of people have kept large amounts stashed away is overblown. I am sure there are alot of people with a few, and a few with alot, but that will hardly satisfy future demand enough to keep prices stagnant on FB.

GE is done in most B&M shops in Europe. (unlike SSD)

Still available through LEGO Shop at Home though, in all EU countries. It will probably disappear soon once the stock has expired (quid TRU Europe?).

This is a corner building getting less credit than the FB, so I hope it will do better.

FB had tag of retiring soon for a long time .

GE is a corner set and is just cooler than FB.

GE disappeared overnight without any warning.

all secondary retailers are out.

price appreciation will be more rapid because there was no warning and current collectors who wanted just one to build will be scrambling - especially if investors hold a line on price.

money from SSD wanters had to go somewhere - knocking out the GE.

SOLD OUT almost always means gone and not coming back.

not TEMPORARILY OUT OF STOCK.

now all that pent up GE and SSD money is looking for a home.

where will it go next?

I can easily see increased demand for FB with any new public service modular set.

Better yet, a building that's on fire

I think GE is better than FB, it just got the attention because it's been out longer.  Looks nicer, corner piece, lots of playability.

i do not think GE vanished overnight. after FB disappeared lot of people who missed on that waiting for the discount actually pounced on GE.

also, lot of forums had heads up with regard to GE.

why i am saying that its still out there is because there are LEGO stores that have still tons of GE available.

we have seen lot of times sold out sets coming back. for example mars rover was sold out in jan as soon as it came out but then it came back during march for few days.

i agree but FB is fire brigade while GE is just another modular so unless LEGO comes out with another fire station. And its most likely they will come out with another corner building. Definitely they will. not sure they will have another FB though :D.

Palace cinema is also corner

I still think that the Pet Shop is the dark horse of the theme.  It's keenly priced, not as available everywhere and you can split it in two.  That's what I've been buying recently and there's a chance of it going before the Grand Emporium.

There will be no other modulars retiring this year besides GE. GE is officially done and out of production. Stores will be selling them front and center to make room for the new modular out in the fall (no info on that other than it is NOT the rumored detective agency).
