It`s a $60M budget, reportedly, plus marketing, etc. I have a feeling the film will gross at worst $3-400M world wide in it`s run. Probably looking at 4-500M+ .  If it does, that`s a pretty significant amount of capital, and would absolutely call for a sequel. Clearly the production companies are thinking something similar and are wanting to get ahead with the project early, and can`t say that I blame them. We`ll know in a couple days what start it`s off to

Yep, that too! 98% certified fresh with this kind of widespread appeal is exactly what a movie needs to get ahead. 

Let's not forget that plenty of terrible movies have gotten multiple sequels too. 

I'm sure the movie will be a hit. Hopefully brings more Lego fans out of the closet too! I would love to see a sequel to the movie.

Considering it takes so long just to complete one movie anymore, this isn't surprising. Didn't Cloud Atlas do this by already starting to film the sequel while the first was not even done yet or hit theaters?
