February 2, 201411 yr Amazon Prime Membership may increase from $79 to $99-$119 http://www.usatoday.com/story/tech/2014/01/30/amazon-raise-prime-price/5063693/
February 2, 201411 yr I love how they immediately claim it's fuel prices. Price at the pump is lower now than it was 4 years ago. I haven't looked what a barrel of crude runs for these days, but I bet it's lower than the $150 it was running a few years ago as well when speculators were running rampant. I know shipping costs rise, I see it when I order pallets of product for work. I just ordered 5 pallets of line chalk for the ball fields and the freight was the same as the chalk itself. But using the "fuel costs" is a crutch. My guess is it has more to do with health costs, but I won't start that debate, that's for another forum.
February 2, 201411 yr I'm better off ordering through Target now anyway...will probably cancel if it does go up. I use Netflix over Amazon's video service and the free 2-day shipping is nice, but nothing I can't live w/o. Sales tax now in my state, so, not much allure to Prime anyway.
February 2, 201411 yr I think everyone gets a drone assigned to their account. Now we're talking. I want them to mount cameras on them with wi-fi so we can log in and watch them fly to our houses. You think those will ever become a reality? I know they've talked about them, but it seems to be very much a dream scenario.
February 2, 201411 yr Im ok with it as of now - I order enough that the fast shipping is really nice.
February 2, 201411 yr I can see a good amount of people leaving Prime if it costs more than $100. Exodus already happened when they messed around with the discounts for Amazon Moms program
February 2, 201411 yr Im ok with it as of now - I order enough that the fast shipping is really nice. I'm with you on this one. Target free shipping is nice but processing and delivery are relatively slow compared to Amazon.

That would be so awesome.
February 2, 201411 yr I would be ok as long as they keep the 50% discount for students... Once I'm done with college I will probably drop it too. 2 day shipping is great, but not really something I really need.

I know they've talked about them, but it seems to be very much a dream scenario. It would even be better if you could fly it yourself and drop off random stuff around town. I don't think this will ever be a reality.

I will continue to be a life-long scholar for Amazon Student Prime Heck, maybe I'll go for my PHD. In the meantime, I'm still a 'student' despite the Masters degree hanging on my wall. February 3, 201411 yr man i hope they use drones.. then i will buy a shotgun and it will be like a pinata. i love free gifts.
March 13, 201411 yr Amazon increases its Prime to $99 starting the upcoming billing period. I got the email from them about it but below is an article from Reuters. I found that I buy less and less from them as supposed to Target. I am get charged tax by Amazon so Target's 5% Redcard discounts helped sway the preference. Looks like I am not renewing my Prime membershiphttp://www.reuters.com/article/2014/03/13/us-amazon-prime-idUSBREA2C12G20140313

Sent from an iPhone using the Brickpicker app i just received an amazon email stating my student rate increased by $10 to $49
March 13, 201411 yr http://time.com/23427/dont-want-to-pay-99-for-amazon-prime-here-are-5-alternatives/
March 13, 201411 yr Got an e-mail today stating mine would increase from $79 to $99 but not until my next renewal in December. Not worried now but will have to think about it then.
March 14, 201411 yr Are there any other stipulations on the student account other than having a .edu email? Just wondering as my wife recently started working for a college and has a .edu email now. I hadn't thought about cashing in on any of those benefits yet... Any way to get lego as "educational material", haha.
March 14, 201411 yr shoprunner is having a free year for new members if you prove you have an amazon prime account https://www.shoprunner.com/amazon-prime/ I am going to gift myself a year of prime and have it delivered when my current membership expires.
March 14, 201411 yr Mine renews in April. Of course, I'm getting charged the new price. Sent from my iPad using Brickpicker
March 14, 201411 yr We had to know it was going to happen. 79$ is so cheap. Writing it off it is still worth it to have. Not even the 2 day shipping but so I don't have to fricking make everything hit 35$
