Which set has made you the most $ so far...

Whether you sold one rare set for crazy net profit or flipped +50 of the same set and still counting...which Lego set has been most profitable overall for you?  Total net cash accumulated.  Not including polybags.

I'm only approaching yr 1 in investing so my inventory/transaction history is rather short, so for me it would have to be the Technic Exculsive Crawler (followed by the Hulk Helicarrier Break out which is gaining fast).

Seems like a slow day on the forums (and bored at work haha), curious which sets other people cashed/cashing in on...money makers.  Lets see if there are surprises...

only been doing this for a little over 6 months ... was able to score DINO 5882 for $2 ea ... sold all of what i had for about $27-$30 ea ...

next would be the just recently retired apple tree house ... got about 40 of them for $14 ea ... selling them upwards of $70 ea ...

I haven't really started selling sets yet...but I did flip a SW malevolene I got at half off canadian MSRP and made $50 from it, so I guess that is the best one so far lol. Also flipped a HP set I bought on Craigslist at $100 for $160, which was one of the very first sets I bought when I started investing.

Delorean, bought 8 at 28 each bucks and sold them for 100 each.... in Mexico....

If I went as a pure %, it would be the Market Street I bought for $80 and sold for $800.
$$$ wise, Dynamic Duo Funhouse all the way. I flip the heck out of that set and have probably sold 70 or so of them.

How long did you have to wait to sell it for that much. That's $500 over the top ones on Ebay.

I bought it in November, sold in December. Nobody's selling used 10179s on Amazon, cheapest you can get is $4k...I fed an empty marketplace :)

HP the Burrow. Got a grip of them half off and sold them for $150 each.

Have been at it a year as of tomorrow.  Biggest flip was a Market street (bought for $70, sold for $1500).  Also made good money at Christmas flipping funhouses and Captain America's.

I have 10x Malevolences (my worst set ever!) that I bought at 40% off (

Congrats on your 1yr tomorrow :)  Awesome flip on the Market Street...I'm a small time investor/flipper so can't imagine a +$1000 profit margin!

Someone posted a garage sale they were going to have and listed that as one of the items along with a big bin of bulk lego.  Emailed and asked if they'd be willing to sell to me before the actual garage sale and they said yes.  My heart was racing the whole way to their house!

Bought 4 Star Wars UCS sets on eBay for $600.  One of them was a MF 10179.  They needed a lot of TLC so I had to order about $650 worth of parts.  I made enough money on three of the UCS sets ($1300) to make the MF absolutely free.  Just sold it for $1600.

How long did you have to spend sorting through them and ordering part?

Ice Dragon Attack and The Zombies, that is if I actually sold them. :P

Haven't sold anything yet but by Brickpicker values from my Brickfolio:

Highest % return are my six 7473 Steel Sprinter Vs. Mutant Lizard that are at over 300% (bought for 5.77 each worth about 25)

Highest $ return are my two 10229 winter village cottages (each bought for 65) $140 "profit" (up 107% from what I paid)

My best sale?

Free VW Polybag I got with my lego order back in what was it, October 2013? Sold it for about a 100$. Not bad for a polybag and I wasn't expecting a bid war on it.

Second best sale, 2 Sungnyemuns, bought for around 28$, sold on for 70$, the other for 95$.

And finally, 2 Blackpearls, bought each for 99

gezz, $100 for the vw mini camper?! nice bidding war indeed for you. I still haven't listed my two bags yet. eventually if I can get half that amount I will be happy :) a great ploybag promo...

Yes it was definetely one of the best polybag promo sets! I'd almost suggest you keep them for some time with the VW camper not being produced any longer, you might get better returns by holding on to them for a bit :)

Depends.  This took about 5 hours to figure out the missing pieces.  I love doing it!

Only started selling some of my stock recently, but so far i'm making the most money on Orc Forges.

Most for 1 set is probably the lonely Black Pearl i sold recently when purchased on heavy clearance years ago, if only i knew to get more at the time :(

It seems from this thread that not very many people have sold substantial amounts of lego for substantial amounts of money.  It will be interesting to read a thread like this in 2 years time once many of the sets we all bought over the last two years will have been retired for a little bit.

Yeah I'm interested to see how long people can hold out while they keep buying. Getting started is always the hardest part.

Sure will be.

I keep close track of what I sell in an Excel spreadsheet as Brickpicker doesn't have a functionnality to track sales for the moment. I've started selling a few months ago, maybe about 20-25 sets and polybags so far. I've made a profit on everything I sold and clear around 750$ until now. It's not going to pay all the bills but it's still a better return than any other investment fund I can think of :). I'm also tracking my average purchase prices/sell prices etc., I'm usually able to make 50-100% return on my purchase price.
