On June 1, 2012, LEGO will be releasing a new version of the SOPWITH CAMEL. The older version, set 3451, did extremely well in the secondary market, increasing almost 200% from MSRP. This set looks much more complicated and accurate. Watch the LEGO 'DESIGN' video. Nice detail. A must have for any investor or collector, so save your pennies for June 1st!

This set has been a major disappointment.  Sitting on a few of these still and they just won't budge.  Never envisioned a home run with this one but to not even reach 2x RRP has been very frustrating.  I will build one of them eventually, but haven't gotten around to it yet.

Just the other day I mentioned to somebody that that's one of my regrets, glad I only have one. Beautiful set though.

Seems it caught Unimogitis. I foresee the same fate for the similarly coloured Mini.

It's a coincidence this popped up as I'm looking to trade a 10215 for this. Both NISB. Deal?

Essential video for fans of this set. Also very interesting for those interested in the design process in general.

 

This is one of the most wonderfull sets and Jamie did great job.

On the other hand, its performance after EOL is one of my biggest disappointment in investment - 2.5 years after EOL and can be bought in bricklink for EUR 107 - just EUR 17 more than RRP ?!?  WTF???

I found the following points he made interesting:

• Lego do read the main fan forums
• He tries to avoid stickers on D2C sets.
• They have a different view on remakes for Star Wars than other D2C sets.
• The design process is quite short for most Creator sets.
• The SC was a plan C as 2 other proposed sets got cancelled.

it's a great build and displayed very well.

i'm not sure why more folks don't like this set to increase the secondary price.

I’ve got one left and not selling it at the current low price.

Two years ago almost by the day (early October 2015) I bought two boxes of 10226 from @mauro23 through eBay. It was a bit of an accident actually, because I only wanted one, but made bids on two different auctions on eBay and won both auctions.   Then it came out they were mauro's and his girlfriend's accounts, so he offered to send them together to save shipping costs. I still have both boxes stored away, but will eventually build one of them when I some day get to it. The other one ... well, I'm not in a hurry to get rid of it.

LEGO needs to release a red baron set to catalyze interest in this set. That and well it would look supper cool together!
