10226 - Sopwith Camel

ATTENTION COLLECTORS AND INVESTORS:

On June 1, 2012, LEGO will be releasing a new version of the SOPWITH CAMEL. The older version, set 3451, did extremely well in the secondary market, increasing almost 200% from MSRP. This set looks much more complicated and accurate. Watch the LEGO 'DESIGN' video. Nice detail. A must have for any investor or collector, so save your pennies for June 1st!

  • Sopwith is doing ok in the states. I wish I had been buying them instead of the VW Campers I have...

John Lewis?

John Lewis has 140 of these.  Is it worth loading up on them at retail price?

It is a good find I'd stock up.  I'll post details about it for folks in the Daily Deals thread.

Yes, this set will fly after EOL, pardon the pun.  Call JL as they may do a deal to offload stock... what you don't ask for, you don't get.  If I had the space, I'd have ordered 99 of them during last year's 2xVIP.

Thanks, got 40 coming but not sure about space for the rest.  They wriggled out of their price match promise on Lego.com of

In for 4 from John Lewis. Thanks for the tip. Forgot to add the free delivery coupon code on checkout. Called CS and got it applied. It was worth forgetting the code - I got to speak with a young (at least let me believe she was!) female on the other end of the line with one of those lovely British accents. Cheerie-o!

Man they went fast.. It was in my cart and then poof

well they went fast. didn't even manage to get one :(

I got 5 to go with my Amazon FR 5 as I have been flipping the ones I had.

I have a feeling besides Chris's 40 there was another big order placed by a person or two as it took a while to go from 140 to 100.

 Are these retired in US?

They've been sold out there for a few months now I think.

Yes they can pop up here and there but are as rare as the Haunted House (or rarer) in finding.  They will not appreciate like the Haunted House but I really like the set.

There is 5 in stock right now

on John Lewis? showing out of stock for me, maybe you need to refresh

They were there when i said.  All gone now though.  That was last place selling them in UK I believe

Just shows that there are some big time investors out there who you never ever hear from. Their business is not shared. Secret, silent, deadly and deep pockets.

I grabbed 2 of the 8 or so left when I got there.  Thank you!

Exactly. The biggest fish in this game are unknown. Pretty much like every business though. They do not need or care about recognition.

Anybody that bought some from John Lewis get an email concerning import duties from Aramex?  According to email from Aramex shipment will be held until import duties are paid.  Why is it that when I purchase from Amazon.co.uk that I don't get slapped with these fees? ???  Scam or anybody else in this boat with me and I just happened to not read the fine print.

They want $126 per order of 5. What did you get?
