10226 - Sopwith Camel

ATTENTION COLLECTORS AND INVESTORS:

On June 1, 2012, LEGO will be releasing a new version of the SOPWITH CAMEL. The older version, set 3451, did extremely well in the secondary market, increasing almost 200% from MSRP. This set looks much more complicated and accurate. Watch the LEGO 'DESIGN' video. Nice detail. A must have for any investor or collector, so save your pennies for June 1st!

Here is the LEGO Press Release:

  • Sopwith is doing ok in the states. I wish I had been buying them instead of the VW Campers I have...

mine didn't have a label but employee did say it was retiring fwiw

Excuse my ignorance but what does "fwiw" mean?

For What It's Worth

My Lego store had a retiring soon label for the display fwiw

Which Lego store? Please post a pic asap!

So I called my local lego store a few minutes ago and he hasn't heard anything about the SC or SSD being retired, but on that note he did say r2d2 is being retired.

Lego store clerks must be hanging out at these forums...

I have a feeling we BPers are probably more in the know than they are.

Just thought I would share what I heard!

I'd rather phrase it as "they are as clueless as we are"

Well said!

Nevermind the grumpiness. Every rumor helps. We do special thread for that though - what I heard from lego employee today

Ahh true. I posted here though because I was inquiring about the sopwith originally.

Ill do a copy and paste into that one.

WW1 started on this date exactly 100 years ago so, why would Lego retire the Sopwith Camel with this fresh in our minds?  11NOV 1918 was when the war ended so could this set EOL on 11NOV 2018?  Well, wasn't that a lot of useless information? ;-)

Target now has Sopwith listed @ 124.99 (OOS)

UHOH! EOL!!!

PANIC!!!

my opinion. still has some time :) .. but who knows.

I think this is Sopwith going EOL.

Target, Walmart and Amazon are gone.

Toys R Us has them at $124.99

LEGO Shop at Home is limit 2 with a ship date of mid September.

Looks similar to the SSD last order window at LEGO Shop at Home.

I just got 2 more from LEGO Shop at Home backordered.

If they still offer backorders on September 1st I will cancel these and order 2 more with the Spaceman.

It makes sense that it is being retired. LEGO can't possibly keep up without retiring some exclusives because I think there are just too many in production right now and many new ones are coming. As much as they want to stop speculation and hoarding they can't escape eventual EOL.

I hope so. I have a good amount, almost double digits now. If there are more signs I will probably double my inventory of them.

anyone seen a retiring soon tag on them in store?

I think someone said the Lego retail store had a retiring soon in the last week.  Somewhere in brickpicker.com
