I recently purchased this set on eBay. I am not sure whether it is new or used. The box is opened, but the bags are remained sealed. New or used?

Warehouse deal?  Usually these are returns. So the pieces are new, but the box was damaged.

That could be it. So I guess that makes it used?

If everything is still inside their original factory sealed bags then it is new in my opinion. Used at least implies the bags were opened and/or the bricks have been put to use. You could always post a pic of the box and its contents here to gain a second opinion.

If you mean the full overall product, no, but if you mean the actual product, the Lego bricks, then yes, it is new in that regard. Similar to how Gamestop will open new copies of games and store them in another case and it's meant to be the display copy.

I like this set. Daughters and their little cousins like this too. Even if this set is older it goes well with EV and IST. I also like the AT-ST in it. The recent used value seems pretty cheap for a little investment.

What do you think about this set?
