What Lego set did you sell today and for how much?

Should have went with my gut as this set turnover is insane, I only sell on ebay and even when you list this set, it usually sells within a few hours if priced reasonable, which is very good compared to other sets which may sell for alot, but takes time to sell.

Back when they were $85 on Amazon (no limit)...I was very tempted (even had a couple in my cart), but the box being so big and heavy I thought it would take years to make re-sell worth it.  I was wrong.

So today I sold the Ghost  (75053) for $450.  Buy-in was 57.23 on 11/29/15.  Expenses, Shipping and ebay was 77.85  so the total return on this set was $314.92 or 500%

Also sold a marvel X-MEN vs. Sentinel (76022) for $75.  Buy-in was 22.51 on 2/5/2016.  Expenses, Shipping and Ebay was 22.70 so the return was 29.79 or 132%

what made you hold on to the Ghost for so long?

I would think at that buy-in the temptation to sell at $200 (CV) would have been enough

I am not sure how popular SW Rebels series has been or is.  Not as popular as Clone Wars (CW), but the obvious next series for fans of CW.  I am in season 2 and both my boy and I are pretty engaged. The reveals are interesting and the best part (The B-wing episode was cool).  The Ghost (and Phantom) are the Millennium Falcon equivalent and the "original" Corellian ship...the set is nice with key figures...but the clear concern is...it's popularity must put it on the radar for re-release or re-make, imo.

it's an interesting thought. i just don't see any more Rebel material coming out so i'm not sure if that keeps it off the re-make list or not.

You are in for a treat with the season 2 finale. Best moment in Star Wars since Empire for me.

I doubt any Rebels sets will be remade as they are for Clone Wars unless a vehicle shows up in some other show or movie.

Ghost (among every other ship ever) shows up in Episode 9 😁

Yeah but for 2 seconds in a blink and you miss it. The Enterprise could have been in that armada for all I know. Engage!

I still don't understand why this set didn't perform better.

Some people have more long term strategies. People often sell too quickly. If you had sold it for 200, you'd have only made less than half the profits.

All that matters is that you got the price you wanted.

Hindsight is 20/20 in the resale market.

Sold both Chip and Dale minifigures for $15 on eBay. I bet that buyer was surprised when I shipped the item just 2 minutes after they ordered it! Most of the time I ship within 1 hour if I am awake. I bought the Disney Train station for $230+tax last year on Black friday then sold this past month

Train and Station ONLY no minifigs- $230 Free ship

Mickey and Minnie - $40 FS

Goofy - $42 FS

and lastly

Chip and dale - $15 FS

overall buyin was $250, and since I didn't want to do the exact math, I broke even pretty much, maybe lost or gained a couple a dollars which isn't bad for a set that NEVER went out of stock or backordered during covid when everything else above $100 was selling faster than you could blink.

Then sold   a LEGO 60198 city cargo train for $235 + shipping($15.22) made a nice $47 in profit, buyin was $160 back at Prime day last year 2019. It's funny because at the time of sale, you could still buy this from Amazon for $160. I like to target $50 for big sets since I don't hold them very long. I made $100 profit though last year on Old fishing stores and detective offices. Wish I held Old fishing longer but it is like that with every set. :)

yes I get that...but it's a 5 year hold, of which it plateaued at around $200 for most of those years with no indication of it rising (and making over $100 profit on a $50 buy-in probably checks most reseller's boxes) ...so just curious on his reason to keep holding.

Maybe he had a general rule to hold all sets for 5 years...but My guess is that it was an offer he couldn't refuse on a personal collection set.

He sold it for 450, not 200. Now I do not know the US market for this, as my  market is very different. But 500%, yo! That is smart investing

I had five of them so I have just been slowly selling them over the years - 1 here, 1 there .  This is my last one as a single .  I still have the ghost/phantom combo .

Not sure either - I had about 20 of them so I am happy i am finally getting some profit out of them

No - when I have a number of sets I sell them over time.  Meaning that I have sold a number of them over the years - 1, here, 1 there.  My personal collection has the ghost and phantom combo set    Sure - I was happy with $200 and I let one go there.  The next year I sold 1 for 250 .  after my 2 sales  - have $450 back on my investment - after expenses the other three were basically free.    Think of it as dollar cost averaging for selling (vs. buying)  It doesn't work for every set but storage, for me , isn't an issue so  I have a little longer holding period.    Also, t think about what the potential for remakes are (X-wings, falcons, Fire stations, At-Ats, etc.) they are always making another one.    Things that appeal a little more to me as an investor are the unique sets - the ghost was more of a unique set in my mind.  (And the buy-in price did not hurt either)

I made a small bet on these (6 pairs I think) and sold them for around $400 average.  I should have bought all of those TRU combo boxes for $90-$120 way back when.  Pound for pound those were better investment than UCS SSD.

So I grabbed the Green Grocer when it popped up as the seller had 100% feedback. I then started to research and it looked legit, but I was still skeptical. Then the Cafe Corner and Market Street appeared so I grabbed them as well. The seller's listing practices were consistent with older listings, and feedback from sales within the week, so I figured no active seller wouldn't notice if their account was compromised in a timely manner. But still I was skeptical.

Things sat for two days, then I randomly received a combined shipping refund from the seller yesterday and feedback.

They just arrived. I scanned all the bags and all the pieces say "LEGO". Still surprised they showed up. They will sit in a 3 day quarantine in the garage then they will be inventoried and flipped.

Sold 10182 and 10185 for $1200 cash.

Decided to keep 10190 to complete the collection, even though I don't actually consider it a modular. Now I've managed to snag every modular for under RRP over the past 3 years when I started collecting them.

I sold a 75021 Republic Gunship for $500 on a buy-in of 83.74 on March 8, 2014.    After selling expenses of 98.68 the return on this was 317.58 for a 389% ROI  .

I also packaged up a 70743 Airjitsu and and 70600 Ninja Bike Chase for an $82.00 sale  on a buy-in of $14.81.  Sets purchased in 2016 and 2017.  Selling expenses were $21.96 so return was 45.23 for an ROI over 300%

I have a few more items listed on ebay  as I prepare for the September Garage Sale (normally we do the sale in the Spring but the pandemic killed it this year.)

Today was a small one   41121 Rafting Adventure from the Friends theme.  Buy-in was $15.90 on July 26, 2016.  Sale price was $50 from a buyer in CA.  Sales expenses were $21.65 (due to CA Shipping) so the return was $12.45 for a 78% ROI.    Not huge but one more set that I do not own anymore.

Bespin Duel $84.99 free ship ($8) via eBay.  I have two left but I'm going to wait and watch prices a bit before listing.
