What Lego set did you sell today and for how much?

Featured Replies

Assuming you bought it at $240 (7 kits) plus tax (7%) minus $320 = $63.20 - fees & shipping....

What's wrong with make $60 on a $250 investment in less than a month? If that's not worth it, I'll take it for you.

Thanks

Goblin King Battle...one more set in inventory left to clear.  $159 CAN, after fees and shipping still a tidy profit from approx 40% discounted purchase price.

Profits easily covers the Riddler Chase set for my son...he'll be a happy builder this weekend :)  The Flash and batmobile looks really cool in the set.

It's not $60 on a $250 investment. 63.20 - $32(10% ebay fee) - 3.9% + $0.30 USD(paypal fee) = less than $30 profits......

But if he didn't buy it at MSRP or got discounts or cashback/rewards, then that's a different story.

Either way the man made money.

As my life coach "Rickey Smiley" says "stop counting other people's money!"  Be happy for him and move on.

Why would you be in this thread if you're not counting how much profits are being made?

It is the "What LEGO set did you sell today and for how much?" thread

not the "what was your exact P&L analysis of such said sale" thread

It's just meant to gauge what sets are selling for in the current market.  Has nothing to do with financials.  Just gives a guide for others to see what things are going for.

My purchase price was $85+$39+$21+4x$10.50 = $187.   At my sale price of $320, after fees, I clear a bit above $85 on each sale.  FYI, purchase has been at TRU with 10% off Thursday + $5 off $25 prior to the TRU price increase.  I have 3 more complete sets available to sell.

Very good call.  I did not pay MSRP.   As I show, above, I'm making about $87 on each sale after fees.  And before you ask about my purchase prices, note that 8% TRU rewards covers my tax exactly.  So, I don't figure either tax or rewards when I do my accounting, and it works out spot on.  $85 for about 30 min worth of work on my end is a great deal, I'll sell as many sets as I can at this price point.

I thought you opened a TRU CC and got 15% off and used discounted GC and threw in a YMMV Manager override 10% off for damaged boxes.

Nice job on the sales and a nice bundle!

he must be using magic gift card other wise $10.50 for $14.99 set can't be acquired on.

assume that he made a perfect transaction meaning pair exactly 2 for $5 off $25. i believe these speed champions sets were 14.99

$14.99*2=$29.98*.90(10off TRUTH)=$26.98-$5($5off25)=$21.98/2=$10.99 (it can only be $10.5 if you do giftcard magic) { rewards negates tax} for this calculation :)

reagardless nice buys and nice bundle for good profit...

Good math.  No gift card magic, but I do make out a bit on TRU rewards (6.5% tax vs. 8% gift cards).  My $10.50 was a bit of an estimate.  I do clear over $85/sale, though.  That's in the bank.  Just about my threshold for a QFLL.

And yes, I've been a pest with the $5 off $25 coupon, breaking down multiple purchases to the lowest acceptable value.  I think I've cashed at least 25 coupons in the last 3 weeks.  My favorite sets for this promotion have been 2x Speed Champion cars and Birds 21301.  Been hoarding those at 10% + $5.  Puts that set at about $35.  I've bought everyone I can find at TRU.  I've said this before, but I see Birds as a $100+ set 6 months from EOL, provided it goes on the same schedule as other CUUSOO/Ideas sets.  Massive AFOL appeal, extending beyond Lego Enthusiasts.  (full disclosure: my wife is an ornithologist, and it got her and many of her friends interested in Lego sets where they previously didn't give them much attention)
