A friend of mine is offering to sell me 9471 Uruk hai army at retail price + tax. Is this worth it? Are HDs worth getting at retail? Hulk breakout?architecture studio? etc.. Thanks

Studio is worth it.  So is the Hulk Helicarrier IMO.  The other two are largely about how much time you are willing to wait.

As 9474 is going EOL presumably so will its companion set, 9471.

I agree, only buy at a discount, if you can get one. It will lift, but it will take a while. Its an investment set, not really a flipping set.

9472 & 9746 went EOL in June but there were so many around from amazon UK that the eBay price is only now starting to left but is still way below RRP.

Not too worried on 9471 as I think many will be opened to form armies.

It is confirmed on their website (toysrus.com, im looking at it right now), front page, and even says "combine with coupons and all special offers to save even more!"....

Kmart has 9471 for $12.40 after the $3 off toy coupon.  YMMV between stores, but the ones near me all had it for that price and had it in stock.
