How about I give you one and I'll buy them all?   lol. Nah...I'm not a reseller right now...i have all the sets since 2010.  I haven't sold a 1.  Some doubles of what I really like.  I'm just looking for 1 more orthanc.

So if I get another 5 I'm either in for a very long haul to move it all here, or I must hope that it reaches $600-$1000 within a few years, then I can sell a batch of 5 to another reseller in europe or the states.

That's rough. Our currency took a fugly tumble today, putting the current euro price of a ToO at €160 and the USD price at $186. Our next price adjustment is going to be nasty.

This seems to be the standard situation - reseller remorse about not making number, pushes up prices dramatically, then the set stalls as not enough real customers come in.

QFLL? I presume QF stands for quick flip, but I'm not sure what the LL is for?

Depends how many places you know of that still stock it. Secondary prices are only going to go in one direction  - maybe they stop but there is at least 3 months sustained growth in this one.

There will definitely be true buyer demand, it´s just how far they are willing to carry it once the horde has dropped the ball. It would seem this is not another AA debacle as it could be less hoarded and the buyer profile is more rich AFOL LOTR completist.

I have 1 which is a bad number because you are always paranoid you sell it too soon. May pick up a second but that would be it for me as I have too much stock as it is.

If anything LOTR is going to "pop" post-retirement at this point (outside of Unexpected Gathering) I would put money on this one and maybe The Lonely Mountain if it disappears before the end of the year.  This is such an impressive looking build and I actually bought 3 more of them in the last couple weeks after I thought I was done.  I just need to make sure I pop the seals on one for my personal collection soon because it's going to be harder to open when the prices start to climb.

If anything LOTR is going to "pop" post-retirement at this point (outside of Unexpected Gathering) I would put money on this one and maybe The Lonely Mountain if it disappears before the end of the year.  This is such an impressive looking build and I actually bought 3 more of them in the last couple weeks after I thought I was done.  I just need to make sure I pop the seals on one for my personal collection soon because it's going to be harder to open when the prices start to climb.

It is an impressive set - my wife commandeered the first one I got and built it. Lovely details and some nice techniques, as well. Buy one (at least used or from AWD).

The cool thing about LM is you can observe how the European market is panning out as we retired it first. I would bet on ToO all the way though as LM is rarer but just so overpriced already.

That's my feeling too. It's going to be one of the must have display sets like 10210. Unlike modulars and star wars ships, you can put money on the fact that Lego will probably never make another castle this impressive (unless they can license GOT - Winterfell?? )

Once I can get my hands on the right display case I'm going to have this next to the Black Pearl and the Tumbler.
