October 25, 201510 yr Speaking as a reseller, this set will do very well. This will be one of the best performing sets for the coming years in Europe. Anybody who can still find one, grab it. I've been selling lots of LoTR retired sets, and this is the MOTHER of all LOTR sets. Truly impressive and UCS. Will never be reproduced again. (I guess that's a too bold statement after what happened to the WV TS)I agree with Ciglione. This set has all its stats in favour of it.
October 26, 201510 yr This just made me giggle.there is a gaggle of them on target.com and amazon.com right now. Edited October 26, 201510 yr by conceptmachine
October 26, 201510 yr there is a gaggle of them on target.com and amazon.com right now. I bought my share x8.Did you at least haggle as you bought 8?
October 26, 201510 yr If i were to sell them there would still be some wiggle room left even at retail. The fella on amazon has a limit of 2. Targets limit is 1.
October 28, 201510 yr The car is now on E with no Gas Station in sight. Drink lots of water and hope for the best.......
October 28, 201510 yr The codes on the target boxes were 27 r6, I believe and amazon had fresh 40s. So guessing target found a pallet of oldies somewhere and SAH shared some with the zon. Edited October 28, 201510 yr by conceptmachine
October 29, 201510 yr That target 40r5 threw off my theory:) I guess I got a boatload of dust collector 27r5s.
October 30, 201510 yr I got one from Amazon. Is it worth holding onto this thing long term? Takes up quite a bit of space!

October 30, 201510 yr The price from Walmart is your sanity when you see how they ship it too you. Stick with Amazon Edited October 30, 201510 yr by MarxMarvelous

November 3, 201510 yr For me I just don't want to pay msrp for this set and I can't get Amazon discounts

The horde can only horde so much before they hit their budget and/or credit limit :) I think its that and a combination of other factors. There are a lot of sets that are showing the signs so money is being spent all over the place. Most of us reached our limit on this set already. Some sets are worth doubling down on but I don't think this is one of them.

November 3, 201510 yr I hit limit last week on these. Must be a different seller? Anyway, they let me get 1 more so i did it. I got my share of these sets. Don't think they will make it again...so ill get it while I can.

Indicative prices in the reseller market: http://www.brickshop.nl/lego/lego-exclusives/lego-10237-the-tower-of-orthanc.html This set will shine. 199$ is a bargain
November 3, 201510 yr I am very interested to see how well the sets that are "anticipated" to retire, appreciate. I don't believe this type of continuing restock happened last year (veteran members correct me if i'm wrong). I think people are becoming very weary of going too deep because sets continue to hang around and its hard to keep throwing cash at something that may not go away. I believe this way of phasing out sets from Lego is going to be very effective at minimizing the initial investing bump for most sets (diamonds in the rough will follow a different path). I have backed off a few sets personally because of the sets phasing out and instead targeted some gambles instead. I may regret it in the future... we'll see.
