FedEx SmartPost vs. USPS Parcel Select

Featured Replies

I haven't really used FedEx much before. I notice it is more available now on my sold items - how is the shipping speed vs. Parcel Select? Wondering how reliable FedEx is, with USPS I usually see items delivered within 3-4 days regardless of distance in the lower 48 for the most part.

smartpost is listed as 2-8 business days while parcel select is 2-9, i have not shipped smart post that often so i dont know if these times are accurate. one thing i do know though, is that smartpost is VERY cheap. i just shipped a 3 pound box coast to coast and it was only 8$ (compared to 11.50 by parcel select)

Smart post just started popping up as an option for me as well, about 3 weeks ago, and I've been using it exclusively on anything over 13oz as it's just as convenient and cheaper. I've had no problems yet but not much data to compare to yet either. I do like saving a bit more on shipping!!

The only problem with Smart post is no signature confirmation. Can't use it for anything over $250 total where the person has paid using a Paypal non-personal payment :(

Great info, thanks all. I am not selling a ton of stuff that requires signature conf., so if the approx. speed is about the same maybe I'll try some free shipping listings.

FedEx sucks for delivery.  You don't know when your package has been delivered because they just chuck it on your porch and don't ring the bell or knock.  The UPS guy could come up and steal it if it was an IPad or something cuz you wouldn't even know it was there.
