Now I wonder if what they have done is ship out unsold stock from Europe. If it was a new batch you would expect Lego shop to have first dibs.

I can't actually get through to checkout on the Amazon pre-order.  Is anyone else able to order currently?

I tried about 10-15 minutes ago and it was already sold out.

I can't decide... sell now or hold ????   :hyper: :hyper:

Sell half of your 7965 stack. That is what I am considering.

Yup, the cheap ones have to move out this week and the expensive ones will be held for the enjoyment of future generations of AFOLs.

Found one on Craigslist for 130. Normally would not consider something this close to retail, but really want to put away a second sealed set. Safe bet this will still pay off?

I'd snag it.  Not much more than the best price at TRU using coupons lately and they are going for about $200 now.

Wow. These jumped up in price so fast i am unsure whether to hold or to sell. Will they drop back down again after Christmas or is this just the beginning of appreciation?

Can anyone tell me what this weighed after boxed up and ready to ship? I'm at the office and don't have my scale with me and need to ship one out. Thanks!

I bought one back in November for the double points on Lego.com.   Glad I did.  I think this set is just about done, if not already.  I guarantee you that there will be a new Falcon set with the new movie coming out.  There's no way there isn't.  And this may be the last of the "classic" Falcon sets for a LOOOONG time.  A long time.  And by classic, I mean with the round antenna (not the square one the new Falcon has), and, of course, the minifigs that come with it.

7 pounds with decent padding and box.  Packed one yesterday. Box size I used 24x17x6. But a 24x16x4 will fit it.

Thank you sir!

I couldn't resist I sold 2 of mine at $199.95 on ebay and that's now the bottom number.

I'm keeping the rest.

Now to figure out how many I have.

I may have to put one up that I don't really want to sell at $215 or so and if sells, so be it heh.

What is estimated ceiling on this set in your opinion? I just wonder if dust settles after Christmas flurry or continues to climb after true retirement.

Again, we aren't going to get a pure re-release of the Falcon for a long time.  If people want the "classic" Falcon, this will be the last one for, my guess, a decade.

I agree that the "classic" Falcon will stand alone for years to come, but I got burned when the new ISD came out because it was essentially heads and tails better than the previous model.

I only have two new Falcons so want to make the right call...

I basically see the Falcon staying around the $200 price point for a while post retirement.  Then, when the new one comes out it may dip a little at first, but then when the new sequels drum up renewed interest in Episodes 4-6, people will want some of the classic sets again.  Just my guess on how this could roll.  I'd sell right now if you have a lot of quantity, and if you don't, I'd wait a few years then if you can afford the wait.

Great advice. I think I will see how this upsurge plays out for another day or so and maybe release one and keep one for later. I have a used one in my PC with box and instructions that may benefit from all this down the road as well...
