if that is the case, put me down for 50 of them and i'll only buy from shop@home :)

The new one will be superior in design than 7965, but it will also comes with several "hidden mickeys" that will be integral to the stability of the build :D

Oh and a smaller cockpit that barely fits 1 minifig, to make it in scale ;)

One source is the brick show guys and they seem to be spot on.

Isn't this the guy that said he bought the last T1 at his local Lego store in April last year? In the same video he said DS and PS were on the "short list". Not trying to be controversial, but I don't think people (especially BP members) who quote lego store employees for EOL and investing info and then put it out there like it is reliable info should be considered "spot on". I am sitting on quite a few T1's right now thanks to these gurus. Lesson learned.

So the ultimate question is how will this, "superior MF, yet more useless for minifigs" MF affect the current 7965's resale value?

I think This set,7965, will hinged on the upcoming remake.(s)

Let just assume there's going to be a remake, and I don't see any reason why Lego would not make one of the most popular ship from SW.
If the new MF is smaller & different in design than the 7965, then this set will be gold.

If the new MF is bigger & different in design, then Houston, we have a problem.

prob like pretty much every other refresh.  the new version will hurt or halt 7965's growth. if AFOLs feel that 7965 ends up still being superior to the latest one (e.g. the Batcaves), the older one will begin increasing in value again but at a slower pace than before the refresh hit the market.

IMO seeing price point being said to be less than 7965 and seeing the cost ratio of 6211 vs 75055 having gone up between the two, this new set will prob be more of a "midi". Just my guess... Thus I believe 7965 would be more of a winner.

Yes and I have already clarified that their EOL info is garbage just like everyone else's in this game. Their upcoming sets have always been spot on so no reason for me not to believe them on the falcon, plus the fact that many reputable sources have also stated the same news.

I like brick show a lot but on your T1 topic - I used those as loss leaders and dumped them for seller ratings.  haha LOL.

Not really but I got out of them completely.  Its not my thing.

Well said

Just so no one is confused predicting when a set will retire and predicting (or reporting) on upcoming sets are two completely different animals.

Good to clarify.. Never really thought about the two differently but makes complete sense.

I'll hold you to that when this starts to go EOL  :taunt:

Aaaaaaaaaand nevermind I assumed we were talking about the MF.

Ow come on Stephen... MF is so 2014!

Depends on what your target sale price is.

I am seeing a bit of SW and LEGO fatigue in general this month - sets like this will always do better in the run up to Xmas and with a movie tie-in, moreso.

The new movie will help a lot a Star Wars sets experience growth. The amount of that growth could be a lot or could be a little. Regarding this MF, I would determine what strategy you have in place if you sell now or keep it long term. If you sell them both now that's a nice chunk of money that could put on the next train leaving the station sort of deal.

I have tracked down most of the rumors about another MF and none of them have convinced me that a new one is coming. What convinces me that a new one is coming is simply that there almost always is at least one MF out there and so it is only a matter of time before another version shows up. The question is how much the new version is like 7965. If it is similar, I sure hope it comes out after Christmas.
