For an example listing sale of 100$, what does eBay / PayPal take for fees?

I deduct 14% which, on average, includes fees and packing.

i usually deduct 20%

I just assume 20% in fees when selling on ebay as well. That includes ebay and paypal fees on purchase price plus shipping as well as accounting for scammage.

The ratio I`ve come across (keep in mind I don`t sell at the moment, but have sold minor things in the past) is about 9% for ebay and 5% for paypal (obviously 14% together). I plan to build in a 20% margin when I do start to regularly sell my inventory, and will also include packaging material in that. Accounting for slightly more fees then you actually paid really isn`t something I have a problem with, because there are also costs of fuel for Lego-specific store runs and other hidden costs that could be added as well. Just means that I know for sure how much I`ve put into my pocket at the end of the day, and if the number I`ve calculated ih that respect is a little bit less, then I`m happy. 

Paypal fees = 2.9% + $0.30.  Ebay fees = 10%.  (If you are a Top rated Power seller, ebay fees drop to 8%.) 

 

Basically figure 13% + 30 cents.

 

Your example of $100 would incur $13.20 in fees.

I use this calculator as well. Fees can variey depending on the listing type and catigory as well as any add-ons you select. Not to mention your seller status or if you have an ebay store.

I bet the brickpicker classifieds are going to have an easy to understand fee schedule.  Another $190 fee bill to amazon yesterday.

For the couple items I`ve sold, they`ve taken it immediately after I receive payment from the buyer. 

Immediately....once funds are remitted to you. They then make you wait 21 days until you can xfer your money for the first 25 sales. eBay is monthly. Figure about 20% loss to fees, and supplies. NOT including the actual shipping charge if you are paying it.

No... They just block it there for 21 days (usually less).

I think it was the first 25 sales were locked up for 21 days.  I usually got it after 14 or so.  If you use tracking--and it shows delivered--I think they tag 3-5 days onto that.  I think the if the buyer leaves a good review--it is released right away.

Actually, you can use the locked up money to pay for postage costs when you purchase/print them via eBay/Paypal.  Also, eBay can still collect their monthly fees if Paypal account is setup for paying eBay fees.  How convenient
