No worries :)

As for the 7965 pricing hit after 75105 came out I'm not sure on that, I just keep an eye on the threads here and check ebay every now and then for the sets that I own.  All the sets I've listed for certain have been between 50%-100%+ ROI within 20Months of official retirement.

Personally I'm not really interested in the selling side of things but I like to know what my collection is worth and there is always great tips on new releases here.
I like to do MOC's and buy multiple sets here and there for parts, when they are discounted enough of course.

MOC?

My Own Creation

ah ok thanks. Is there a link to a abbreviation summary anywhere? :) haha.
Do you ever buy a few multiples to sell off later on?
Personally, if i was a collector / creator i would do this, try to at least make my money back in the long-term.

This would be a good start for general terms

Somewhere on these forums I think someone started an abbreviated list of set names.

The trouble is some like SC could be 3 or more different sets

Sea Cow

Sopwith Camel

Sand Crawler

Now there's a dark horse set with potential :)

I reckon that's due for retirement in the near future.

Noticed it's suddenly OOS on LEGO Shop at Home too.

Seems a few sets have gone to backorder or Toos. Simply putting more time into making the newer sets or something else?

Now that we have the myer sale going on, TRU will have a 1 day 20% sale tomorrow and Big W toy sale kicking off too. Everyone set to go buying? Any thoughts on Target and Kmart? no toys news from them. I remember someone mentioned that Target might not do a toy sale this year?

First time investor, long time collector here from Brissie. I've collected SW lines for 15+ years now and have decided to go out on a limb and see what I can do with this. Intending on picking up 2 SC from Big W tomorrow using the 8% gift cards. Tried to get a Pet Shop from TRU at 20% off tonight, but already sold out. I've grabbed one of each of the four available modulars from Myer just now also. As far as I can tell, no other real big sales around. A bit disappointing, considering it's EOFY. Then again, when has Australia ever really had properly good discounts? :P I'll try limiting myself to these for starters, as I don't want all my finances in plastic, not the most liquid of all assets (unless melted) ;)

For all those two hours in front of me here, what were/are the doors like at Big W at opening time? Mad crush or not bad?

I was at my BigW at opening, and was fifth in line to get a GB HQ. Store ended up having a total of 8 available, and 6 of those were gone within 10 minutes. If the West coast stores are anything like over here, head straight to the laybuy counter.

Thought it might be busy. I'm sorted to be at my store for opening so should be ok. May have to do the run of shame through the shop to the laybuy counter but desperate times call for desperate measures. :)

I showed up 5 mins after opening and went straight to laybys. Hooked me up with 2x UCS SC as planned. As I left a big line was queuing, though if is was for the larger Lego sets I don't know. Quite calm overall! A guy at the exit door (dressed as a Jedi) pointed out box damage and had someone swap one out for me :D

There were a couple of runners and some fast walking once everyone heard the lady say the big sets were at laybuy :)

I was just happy to get one for the collection.

I just don't get it.

Lemmings in the mad rush to get an overpriced Lego 'box building ' that will likely still be around in a few years time for a measly 5% off...

Maybe for a personal build, but as far as investment goes, it makes little sense.

Sorry to sound rude, but am I the only one making this observation?

For me, it was all about the personal build (few purchases are for anything other than that).

Had gift cards bought at 8% off, so ends up at about 12% discount. Just not sure when I'll get to build it...

Back from my local. Few people at the opening but no crowds. No-one went to the laybuy counter but me. Stayed for 10 mins. Didn't seen any LEGO sets bought except for the Helicarrier I grabbed.

Lemmings is probably harsh. If I can get a Helicarrier for $438 yeh I'll make some effort to pick it up.

Ok I'll bite, it's exclusive to BigW in Australia obviously with SaH being the only other place to get it (so much for the SaH 'exclusive' tag!).

North Brisbane appears to be sold out within a few hours of opening.

If you are bullish on the set, where else are you going to get a better deal than the 12% odd at the moment. If you did it correctly and lay-by'd for Christmas you can also apply sale discounts down the track.

Where's your local? I was a bit late...like 9.15am late to my locals...most sold out of GBHs but Helicarrier and SC still around at the back. Happy to report that Mairabokka and Kingsway gone of GBH...should still have some at Joondalup big w.

I ended up going to Warnbro Big W. I'll hold off on the GBH for a while yet. Only after it as investment and don't think this will be going anywhere for a long time.

wow thats a bit far unless you live nearby. Yeah agreed that the GBH is not going anyway yet in terms of investment. Got 1 just for my personal collection. Box sure is big and heavy...remind me of the DS, it caught the eyes of many mums and dads in Big W as i carry it out.

Yeh the bloke I went with bought the GBH and yeh it's big, weighs a tonne and box art looked mint. Almost swayed me to get one as my Helicarrier was half the weight but the same price.

I guess the Ghostbusters licence is much cheaper than the Marvel (or Star Wars) one.

Think your right, but if all goes to plan I should be able to buy 3 GBH as they near retirement ,when I sell my long retired HC. :)

Well , that's the plan anyway.

Looks like the Aussie horde really went to Town on GBHQ, seems to be sold out at BigW just about everywhere.

agreed with that. 1st day sell out, seem quite popular despite the higher asking price than the rest of the sets.[emoji5] so glad that i got one just in time. Hope everyone here got what they are after too.[emoji3]
