Managed to pick up 2 Helicarriers, after calling 7 stores finally lucked out.

Good work on the HC's.

Also, any of you who purchased a large set at BigW s last "sale" , you can take it back (unopened) into store with the reciept and they will refund you the new price difference. Eg my receipt says I paid $475 for my HC ,refunded $95.

I didn't mention to them I actually paid $435 for it using 8% gift cards. Bit of faffing around but $340 for a HC is worth the effort.

Maybe not completely ethical , but it is their store policy.

What store policy is this, their Lowest Price Guarantee?

Did you have to push them hard for it? I might try to do this with my GBHQ.

i hope the guy that got 13 sandcrawlers had them on layby, I would not want to imagine the difficulty in bringing those back instore for a 20% discount.

Yes lowest price guarantee. No didn't need to push. Wasn't a drama really. I'm not sure if it works on laybuy. The SC I laybuyed on Mon , staff had me sign the docket saying I was locked into those terms and price.

But I would try it anyway. :)

Going to try it this morning with my 2 SC's, wish me luck! Also did someone on the last page mention 10% off Myer gift cards?

The Hut also has Scooby Lighthouses for $55. Just grabbed 3, I haven't grabbed any Scooby stuff and it seemed pretty reasonable at ~40% off.

Think that was a glitch found on ozbargain for AGL members, but the link worked for everyone.

https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/257891

from what I read users were unsure if their orders will get cancelled or not, but worth a try

edit: looks like some people already have their egift cards.

It works on lay-bys as well provided the item was priced at everyday pricing which GBHQ, SC & HC were.

if they play hardball just show them this official Facebook quote from bigw

Guess it's too late to tell you about the 10% off code then.

I tried using it, it excludes a fair few things including Lego unfortunately. Can confirm I also got 20% back on my SC's, about $160 which is definitely worth the effort!

I am going to try it on my GBHQ but the problem is i used 2 gift cards and a bit of cash to pay for it. Wonder will it work? Which Big W did you go to? Lay buy counter or just the front customer service? Hate for the staff to create an embrassing scene down there, just in case.

Go to lay buy counter. I used all gift cards ,so they just refunded my money on another gift card which is fine as I'll just give it back to them eventually anyway.

Thanks for the info, furious george. Will try it out later after work. Yeah even if they put the money back onto a gift card, i am happy to get it to spend on other stuffs at Big W eventually.

Yep enjoying get hard to find stock with a brexit discount from UK sources

I purchased my SC's 100% on egift cards, but they refunded me onto my debit card. I guess in hindsight that means I gained an extra 8%ish on my refund?

Are you serious...

I have 12SC,2GBH.

I just calculated that i will be getting atleast $1K in refunds if this is true. So i feel less embarrassed and will probably push it pretty hard if they refuse since you guys have gotten your money back.

Will help if they do refuse.

Also, does anyone know if i have to go to the stores i bought the lego from to get the refund?
And should i actually take all my boxes back or not, will they accept a timestamped photo of all the boxes unopened?

Wish me luck.

You gotta drag all those boxes into the store you bought them from and show the receipt. And don't forget my 10% cut for letting you know about this. :)

haha. Where do you hang out ill buy you some beers :P.

The most i bought at one store was 6sc, so ill just take 6 and yea...use the same boxes to show them.

Thing is there return policy online states 30days when its been just a bit more than that. And the facebook post states lay-bys. But its essentially the same thing. Did they try to give you any slack? And how did you response if they did?

As someone who works retail, i hate myself right now....haha

Just get in there mate. You"ll be right.

yup i can also confirm that with my GBHQ. I got the 20% back. I can choose to have it back on the card or into a gift card. That was great of Big W to honour the lowest price promise. And of course thanks to the guys over here for telling us this piece of news.

On another note, i done it at the front customer service counter as layby didn't do this refund for me. Some empolyees don't rrally understand what i meant, but a little typing into the computer eventually got me the money back, no dramas. And yes i took the box and the receipt into the store.

Got to say this whole Big W thing is bullsh*t.

They should have just had 20% off to start with.

An astute observation. I believe that all of the major retailers are all poorly-managed with glitches and quirks to throw investors, but Big W is the pits. No method to the madness.

In my mind it makes sense. They sell as many sets (including- they hope- all the limited stock ones) during their own toy sale, knowing Target wasn't doing one at the same time. Then when Target's does comes around, boom! They've made some healthy initial sales then cash in on their competitor's failures. Sounds like cold hard business to me!
