Combing through my huge used lot we noticed a drill---like power miners...small....light gray....with some sort of electronic device attached.   Buttons don't work...didn't want to take apart to check for battery....looked almost like it had a solar cell and rf remote control receivers?  

 

I can post a pic later when I am home....unless someone  has an idea of what this can be.

I searched drill on bricklink and the best one I found was this. When there is a picture, it can be better verified.

That is a very unique piece that you have. It is only found in one set. The 9748 Droid Developer Kit. Bricklink value on this piece is $9.07. Nice find. Maybe you can find the rest of the pieces to this set.

When I saw the picture of that pieces, that set was the first thing I thought of. I have only seen this set in a book and never anywhere else.
