I was wondering how you guys all display your sets and minifigures. Do you use Acrylic Cases for the musuem quality dust free look. Most importantly what do you think of these cases. Link I am thinking about doing something similar and wondering where I can find these cases for purchase. Hopefully some of you super deal hunters know of a good site.I think they are about the size you would use for a deck of cards but without the outside clasps almost an AFA look. Please Help. THANKS

The Container Store.

Multilevel display case, can adjust steps. Great for minifigure displays or a vehicle and some figures:

Basketball and Soccer displays handle Funhouse with some mod and tiefighter:

Doll Size Case handles Palace Cinema and other modulars:

They also have a 24 section hinged acrylic case that holds a minifigure in each section.

Just some ideas, good luck keeping dust bunnies at bay.

I just bought this one http://www.amazon.com/Minifigures-Disney-Figures-Display-Cabinet/dp/B008KPO4YU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1381431170&sr=8-1&keywords=minifigure+display+cabinet

This case is nice. Holds over 100 minifigs so your looking at just under $1.00 per fig. to store dust free. Looks good hanging on wall too.

I also show it in this video when I unbox some LEGO and supplies:

Thats perfect. You're going to have to post pic's when it's all filled up.

You can always make your own--there is a lot of good "how-to" info in forums on the topic.  I made both of these cases for $50 total--biggest expense is the front-loading shodowbox frame at $40 (paint=$5 and trim=$5).

I use the Ikea Detolf and add more shelves in it. Then use tape to seal and prevent dust or toddlers from invading. Heres mine w some models legos and helmets. Look great w halogen lights.

They show as $64.99 on Ikea's website.  Where did you see this sale?  I was interested in picking up another one, so would jump on a sale price.

BTW, below is how I display some of my sets using Detolf shelves; I found a great article online on how to join to 2 shelves together so you can display long sets across 2 units (i.e. Star Destroyer) ...it takes a little handy work and familiarity with a circular saw, but not too overwhelming.  The shelf on the far right is a stand-alone unit and the other shelves are 4 units joined together in pairs so sets can span across.  This is a work-in-progress as I'd like to set up scenes in each display, but figured I'd show what the cabinets can look like.

69.99 + Free Ship

Besides Container Store, you can also get display cases from Joann's and Kohl's. It's a great deal when they run sales and/or have coupons (which is always!). I bought one of the football helmet sized ones from Kohl's for my 10218 Pet Shop. Also, their in store stock is always different (and often better) than online.

Sure, here is the link to the post where I first saw this.  About 1/2 way down the first page, KiriK shows pictures of how he sawed off some of the excess board on one side to make the cabinets get closer together.  This is basically what I did as well.

Awesome links. Detolfs always go on sale. Sign up for ikea emails.

One thing i am doing is swapping out my hot halogen lights for colder LED lights.

  • 4 months later...

I just bought 2x of the Detolf cases from IKEA that were out of stock for months! I like them, need another pair of hands to put them together. They look sharp and good height in between shelves. You cannot adjust the height of the shelves, just put them in or take them out. Not sure about the second one, more shelves, less height between them. Might work just as well if not displaying tall pieces.

Those look like aircrew helmets and in some older styles. Mind if I ask you what you do/did? :)

So...

Curious if anyone has these cases (from Ikea).

Which one do you all like best? Purchasing one this weekend and input would help! :)

I was looking at that top one as a display case a while back too. I was the best option I found. I haven't purchased one yet though.
