October 8, 201312 yr Anyone have any thoughts on these. I have never really done much with the city except for the big stuff. I like this set but the price seems high. I do know people love chips but not sure on these types of ships.
October 8, 201312 yr I also like this set. I just bought two of them when Target had their buy one get the other 40% off and $10.00 off of $75.00 purchase.
October 8, 201312 yr I have 4...there have been some pretty good deals on it lately. Think the whole Coast Guard line is top notch.
October 8, 201312 yr I think the track record for the last Coast Guard type Town sets have done well and ships typically gain good results so this among the others should do nicely. Its retail is high but the ship's main hull is one very large piece giving it the ability to actually float on water. There is also a bunch of other large parts in the set contributing to its weight.
October 8, 201312 yr I think that the set will do well in the future. In the past, the 7739 Coast Guard Patrol Boat and Tower is doing well. The set had a MSRP of $59.99 and now the value of the set is almost $120 NIB.
January 14, 201411 yr I got mine at TRU. They were mis-marked at $64.99 plus I had a couple of $5 off rewards. Super nice set,
January 14, 201411 yr If you can get them below $50, they will be a solid investment. I love chips too.
January 14, 201411 yr Just built the 7739 old one out of a CL lot. Good build and just awesome looking. Haven't built the new one yet but it looks even better!
January 16, 201411 yr I saw one made up as a display set yesterday and it looks like a smart set. But I am cautious about investing in city sets because its a theme I do not know much about. From an investing point of view of course :)
January 19, 201411 yr The coast guard is nice, but i think if they make a navy ship model, thay would be even better. Just my 2 cents.
January 19, 201411 yr I have 22 of these thanks to Argos' sale during Summer bringing them down to just

From an investing point of view of course It is a good thing that you are cautious with investing in City sets. Even though the theme has a CAGR of 20.22%, a lot of the sets are remade every few years and that devalues the previous sets. For example, a Fire/Police Station are remade about every 2-3 years. Other themes, like Coast Guard, aren't remade as often, and those are the better investments.
January 20, 201411 yr @CB...I can help but wonder where your nickname comes from, are you a female that doesn't wash? ;-)....I'm not touching that with a 20-foot pole. Then again, neither is she. :mosking:

January 20, 201411 yr My best friend just moved to London (as more and more people flee the country, unfortunately) so I'll have to start paying attention to those deals in the UK. Crusty, can we call you Krusty The Beaver? =P

January 20, 201411 yr I remember you saying you'd had bad experiences using Argos's delivery service, so I've always used their click and collect service. That was an awesome deal you had there with the Wolverine Choppers, 500% gains and 600 quid profit. You can't ask for much more than that out of a deal. I have five that I picked up for
January 20, 201411 yr I know Farnham well, Frensham garden centre used to be a goldmine for eBay stock. When David Wheelhouse (from Wheelhouse factory outlet in Hounslow) bought the garden centre, he initially used it to sell his job lots of gardening stuff dirt cheap which is how I got started on eBay. For example, I was buying 50m Hozelock hosepipes for
January 20, 201411 yr No, you can call me sir OK, buddy! On a related note, any thoughts on 60015? Grabbed a few at 60% off to flip but now they seem to have vanished from LEGO Shop at Home...
January 20, 201411 yr PMSL you sound like a modern day Del Boy! Fair play to you, sounds like you've got a pretty good business head. So you work in IT right, how the hell do you find the time for this on top? I'm good at time management and I have a good work/Lego balance. I take a break every hour or so hence, I type on here all hours.
January 20, 201411 yr I'm good at time management and I have a good work/Lego balance. I take a break every hour or so hence, I type on here all hours. I swear he never sleeps. Which is the reason why there no no good deals left in the UK, he and his 3 wheeler have turned up and nicked them. More serious question though, why are there not any Amazon values for 60014 when it is widely available from Amazon? http://www.amazon.co.uk/LEGO-City-Coast-Guard-60014/dp/B00B06J3FQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1390246437&sr=8-1&keywords=Lego+60014
