Anyone seen the Batcave 6860 thread? I can't seem to find it.

  •     Sorry, this entered my mind when I saw the Duplo Batmobile.

  • you're looking at current sales at the lowest sell through period of the summer when prices are the lowest to begin with and saying its not good.  This set hits 120+ every xmas, even while it was not

The more I think about it...we should be seeing another Batcave +/- 7 months of the Batman movie's release (yeah, it's Batman movie regardless of Superman).   We are approaching  4 years of 6860's release.

Devil's advocate = a Batcave can prob be further delayed if a Hall of Justice type set was released first.  It would prob have something specific to Bats in it.

I think a $200 price might be enough to get me to begin selling to minimize refresh risk (unless legit info forces me to sell early)

A link on the Brickpicker front page redirects to a brickfan post indicating that there may be a classic Batcave set next winter.  If this is true, it looks like we have 12 months to sell 6860 as many Batman fans with money will want a TV series Batcave instead.

I am getting tired of these refreshes. How are we supposed to make a living here? Lego investing and reselling should be fun. Not stress and anxiety.

According to the rumor this is an we'd set. Will likely be micro scale like degobah.  Not a competitor to 6860.  Will likely be another batcave but we probably have some time.

To the Batcave, Robin! I suppose "Classic TV series" is referring to the 1960's one which would certainly make an interesting choice and if the new mold for Tigerwoman from Series 14 is any clue then the set may include a Julie Newmar Catwoman. Far out.

It is supposed to be a large D2C (AA sized) set and will include the classic batmobile. Hopefully it does well and maybe we will see a UCS sized George Barris batmobile in the future.

I have been doing a decent job of clearing out some stale sets over the holiday season, but still have Batcave that I cannot decide what to do. This has leveled off at just under $100 for quite some time now, and it would make sense to sell it off while "toy" sets are hot.

but when I look at the previous iteration (7783) of the set, it seems to have done amazingly well. Should I just put it away and forget it for a few more years or was there something special about 7783 that was missing from 6860?

thanks!

7783 is and was more scarce. Also there is something about it. Dunno what. Cannot describe it. But if I could ever find a cheap one MISB I would buy it for my personal collection.

I sold one 6860 today. Have two left which I will keep. Hoping it will become like 7783 one day.

I sold my one and only that I had.  Wasn't there talk of a refresh?  I'm glad I got rid of mine.  That's just me though.  I haven't had the best of luck with Superhero sets.

6860 will never reach 7783 heights.  It's not in the same league as the original.  I'm still sitting on most of mine but have started selling them as they  have plateaued.

I agree. The older model is just superior in pretty much every way possible. I guess they went for a more cartoonish look on 6860, and that never appealed to me.

Im sitting on a bunch as well. That third production year really hurt the set. Debating on liquidating them as well.

They are up $15 from a week ago on amazon and are a year removed from being $42 on black friday last year. Not saying I'm happy I am sitting on a bunch, but I think stock still needs some time to go down, six months down the road I'd hope for $150+ on FBA if people keep getting rid of their stock. I agree that superheros sets have been completely lackluster lately. If you take off the couple top performers from the theme over the past couple years I bet it does not rank very highly.

The third year certainly hurt, "lingerers" tend to be rough.

How quickly it is refreshed is really key for the next 12 months. I am disappointed in this one as well, but a search for "batman batcave" will always be something a parent will be looking for, and this will still be vastly cheaper than the old one. So still hoping to see it up around $150 like others have said. Still a great playset IMO.

rumors are pretty loud for a new batcave in 2016 based on the classic tv series from the 60s.  gotta use the left over juniors escape the batcave minifigures somehow.  i dumped over the summer and started my tumbler pile.  time is nigh unless you think 6860 isn't going to be the worst batcave ever.

this set is doing real badly ...

Has any recent Super Heroes set done well outside the US?

hopefully its not as bad as the rumors suggest. Though if it tanks, there are rumors they will push out a Batman (Affleck) exclusive movie early next year.  The tumbler will do fine even off the hype from a bad movie, but play sets like the cave need a strong batman following.

Suicide Squad (Aug-05) will help.  As well as the general DC attention, The Joker (&Harley) is only half of the equation.   I wouldn’t be surprised if it brings more attention to Batman than straight Batman movie.

Being right in the middle of SW hype and a few months after the DVD release, isn’t going to hurt either.
