My HP C310 photosmart printer has suspiciously stopped working.  I honestly believe the latest firmware push/update just bricked this thing.

Needless to say I am in the market for a new printer.  This printer will be used primarily to print shipping labels and the occasional pictures on photo papers.

Any suggestions on what to get ?

I have a C4280, it usually works but sometimes can get a bit temperamental. I am assuming you are in the market for color printers?

Do you absolutely need color printing? If not go laser, you'll save a ton of money on laser vs inkjet. You can probably print your pictures at Walmart or Costco for significantly cheaper than printing it at home...

I use a Canon imageClass MF4570dn all in one laser for my regular printing and a Zebra LP2844 for my shipping labels. The zebra is nice if you're going to plan to do a large amount of volume on printing shipping labels at some point.

What do you think about color laser printers ? The wife prefers to create and print her own greetings cards, so color printing is an essential requirement :)
