What % off would u pay for used lots?

Featured Replies

I am in the process of buying a used lot. NO Boxes. But have manuals and are 100% complete.

What would be the most you would pay if you want to part out and resell or to just keep. As reselling without boxes are not worth it IMO.

My personal rule is to take the BP price for each set, add it up and divide by 2. It means sometimes I put in what I think are high bids by my other price per kg rule but it has worked so far.

If I cannot tell if the sets are complete I divide by 3 instead.

This has worked for me so far and has let to a very good return, averaging 100%, sometimes as much as 400% return. I use this mainly for bidding on vintage lots like this:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/281170804480?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

I used the divide by 2 rule here as I have the pieces to complete the incomplete sets.

I'm surprised you don't like reselling used sets without boxes. I love doing this, and it's my preferred way of investing in Lego. They usually sell at or near the BP "used" value without the box, although sometimes my price must include free shipping for it to move.

To determine a price that will work, use the Brickpicker sale price, take off shipping (if you choose), fees and a target margin to determine an offering price. Verify the set is selling at or near the BP value with sold listings on eBay or Bricklink. Always let the market sale price determine your purchase price.

Yeah, I'm pretty much the same, though I go a little deeper and inspect THE most recent sales to pick up any trends that have occurred since the last update.  I add this up and if I'm around 50%, then I know I've done good.  There are always going to be figures and pieces missing, not matter if they say the lot is 100% complete or not, so that always needs to be taken into consideration.  My most recent purchase this way I came in at 45% of my total calculated worth, so I was happy.  My threshold is around 60%, my goal is around 50%, if that makes sense.

Do you sell by Buy it now or auction. I have always used auction.

I currently have a number of 1980s town sets listed like:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/290985104514?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1558.l2649

I sold a 6378 for

I would pay anywhere from 50%-75% the retail value of the set. I aim for 75%, but most of the time I usually get sets around 50% off their retail value.

The last large used lot I purchased through craigslist I think I paid about 60% of BP used prices. I had to drive 1.5 hours out of my city, and prayed everything listed was there and complete. I'm still working through the lot!

Thanks for the responses. I was calculating all the minifigs and just paying what the minifigs were worth.
