Was at my local store yesterday and these were listed on sale. In my experience, anytime the lego store has something on sale, it's done. The LOTR Attack on Weathertops were also listed on sale.

What sale/discount are you talking about? Amazon's had both of these right around $10 for a while, I think.

 

Amazon and Target have the 75000 for $9.50, and Walmart has it for $10. 

 

Amazon has the 75001 for $10 even.

I think I saw there on sale at my lego store too - 25% off. But didn't these sets just come out in 2013? It's probably more of a marketing ploy to get the parents to buy for their kids, which leads to them buying larger and more expensive sets at retail!

They did come out this year and anything is possible, but in my experience the lego store never puts sets on sale unless they are discontinuing them effective immediately. The homes for these sets were empty, only the sale sign was there.

They were on sale at my store too. I don't love Battlepacks though unless I get them on Clearance - 7$ or so is great. Otherwise, there are better things out there.
