I saw Walmart had a rollback online and in selected location on the Lion Temple.  I inputed the price on Amazon where I found it cheaper.  Within 15 minutes, Amazon marked it down to 99.88 if anyone is interested.  No sales tax and free shipping.

  • FYI I've sold mine for 150

  • I wouldn't be surprised if it sold for less in two years after eol than in 6 months. Kids may not even remember what Chima was in 2 years.

Hi.

Currently this set is available for

I guess it's fair to say no one is sure about the theme, but it is general consensus that of all the Chima sets, the CHI temple is one of the best if not the best investment option. I got 3 with average price of $70 and I don't think I'm buying more unless I see better discount than that, or the performance of other retired Chima sets.

I did not noticed that a retailer had those for 40

My local KMart has them at $75 (38% off).  I didn't want to pull the trigger due to my storage contraints.  These sets are big and I'm not sure how long I'll have to hold onto Chima to turn any profit.

Any new expectations on this set? Production for Germany has ended.

This set was only available at the U.S. LEGO Shop at Home site for less than 10 months and most retailers have cleared them out.  I'm amazed that between TRU, Target, and Kroger, all the ones I found were 50% off.  They really wanted to get rid of them quickly and I bought all 7 I found.  I'm hoping for good returns this Christmas as I don't plan to hold this set any longer than that.  I think I can easily double my money, maybe better.

At one point, these were around $40 somewhere. I'm not a huge believer in the set at anything higher than $50

Been getting 150+ for this set so call me a believer

I am sold as well.  Of all that new sets at my two TRU's the large new Chima stuff was sold out.  I only wish I had double of the chi temples.

I would buy this set all day long at $60.  Not sure where they showed up for $40 but I'm willing to bet it wasn't widely available at that price.  It's selling for $100 or just above that on ebay right now....in the middle of the summer.  Just wait until the holiday shopping kicks in.  I know there are a ton of options for Chima sets right now, but this will be long gone by November and it's a main set from the cartoon.  I have high hopes that this will be pushing $140-150 before Christmas, but we'll see.

I'm bullish.  I'd spend 70 or less.

i ended up with 9 at 50% off or better through TRU/target sale with additional 10%/5% discount (got 2 as low as $45 a piece out the door). glad its selling for near MSRP during summer slump. Excellent, Smithers!

On ebay Germany it is selling now between 140 and 150 euro. Should I bother buying two for 110 euro each? Will this set go up in value any further?

Mine says yes. First run of a theme that could take off. First big set of said theme, low investor focus, short retail life. These facts do not compel one to ignore purchase price but i think it could do quite well. I expect i will sell all of mine in 2 or 3 years, maybe keep one for the long haul depending on mid range performance.

at that price i would pass, does not seem enough meat on the bone and its not like its highly collectible among adults to see much higher returns in the future.

Do you guys plan to unload your Lion Chi this Christmas? I will be very tempted to do that once the price goes up to $170~180 to clear some storage space.

Bought this at TRU for $42 last week. Amazed it was still around though it was a bit dented. Local Walmart sold out at $120.

Good lord, 42$ is an awesome price. This set absolutely will be a winner.

The layout is similar to the Portal of Atlantis which didn't perform well and you can still find it for 60-65

Yep, this is already selling for at or above retail on eBay.  Since I got all of mine at 50% off I'm looking to flip them in November or December when hopefully the prices spike.  Not sure about the long-term prospects of Chima and I don't want to risk holding any to find out.

Interesting while perusing Walmarts looking for deals, I am seeing several still have this in their holiday selling planogram - $119.97. Not all, but about half of the Wally's I've visited still have this on the shelf.

I think mine still have a few at full retail and they never went on sale even once around me.

Same here.  They actually sold out at full retail at all the stores in my area.  I am in Tenn this weekend and have seen a good dozen at full retail.  I actually purchased a few as this set is selling solid at 150-170 now in fixed price formats.  Some auctions still go about retail or a little above but this set is doing very well.

I haven't seem them available locally since LEGO stores had them at $83 and Target at about the same. They went very quickly at that.  I got some then but almost think this could be a $200 during the holidays at which point retail wouldn't be bad.  Only thing holding be back is it never got the full "retired" tag at LEGO , just been sold out for awhile.

Most all the Walmarts are sold out at 119 but there was a string of about 5 yesterday that all had 4.  Anyone else still seeing these available at retail?

This set to me was overlooked by many and not many people built these up and at the price level of a T1 which I already have a lot just like everyone else I see this as doing very well in comparison for the short term in the next year or so.

With the ad on of the Chima part of Legoland which the Lion Temple is the main focus when you walk in I could see this gaining more popularity for awhile to come.
