The Girlfriend wants to buy me something special, which one should I get? B-Wing 10227, X-Wing 10240, R2-D2 10225. Please help me out.

My opinion would be that R2-D2 will do better overall in the long run as an investment.

 

All three are great sets to build though.

I would say R2-D2 it seems to be the most popular with collectors. Very interesting model, sort of cute too.

I would get the R2-D2 as well. it is a great build and display piece.

I think the Bwing is incredibly better than the X-wing. What are you getting in the X-wing? just a bigger version of the one currently out. R2 still my favorite

R2 is my favorite too. But don't dismiss the x-wing. It was a lot of fun to build and it is a very impressive model. It's huge! My only real gripe with it is that it should be gray. Oh, and that ridiculous canopy sticker.

Tough thing with big sets. Finished product is worth it though.

It sounds as if every one is on board with R2, I'll have to be nice to her and maybe when my R2 is done she'll be so impressed she'll want me to have the others also, Thank you for the input guys...

Is she buying you something you are going to resell or is it something she would want you to keep?  If she is going to want you to keep the gift she gets you then you should pick the one you like the most.  Sets I've received as gifts I've always kept, I don't need that to bite me in the butt later on.

I will build it, I also keep all gifts. They buy them for me to build cause they know it makes me happy, to me thats priceless....

Chalk up another vote for R2. As a gift for a personal collection this one displays well and is a great conversation piece.

You can hold off until next month, right? Wait until September so that you'll get the free Clone polybag and the VW mini as well. Buying it now will get you only a crappy Galaxy squad poly that's a re-release of one that TRU already sells.

My vote is for R2 also!  I love to do the build with my boys, we build it every year for 4th of July and decorate it to celebrate the holiday!

R2-D2 and the B-Wing are tied up for me. The X-Wing is a remake, and basically looks the same as the old one, save a few changes and tweaks. 

 

Going the Price per Piece route, R2-D2 has a massively better ratio than the B-Wing. B-Wing's way bigger, and the R2 set is more compact.

 

I think the B-Wing will be retired before the R2 set though. Just a though!

I agree. I think that the B-wing Fighter has been on the market longer than the R2-D2.
