Any new parts? - New Pirate theme?

I see printing on the bottle?

Also can someone tell in which sets we can also find this bottle/map if they are not new?

The map tile has been in 4184 Black Pearl, 8077 Atlantis Exploration HQ, 8078 Portal of Atlantis, and 3817 Flying Dutchman

I can't tell what type of printing is on the bottle.

looks like it might be the bottle from 4191 captains ship & 10288 Haunted House.

It's odd that this doesn't have a Lego set #.

All the accessories sets have the set number above the bar code in the back of the package.

I really wonder if Chrome gold bar as shown on picture is included (probably yes) or are there only coins!

It looks like newer packaging, would be awesome to have the Pirates theme back.

But what's the deal with that sword? Me thinks there are better ones in the LEGO repertoire.

I believe what we are looking at is a minifigure pack similar to this one:

850449 (also retails for $14.99 USD) and also similar to Halloween minifigure package.

I don't think there are any new parts. It wouldn't really make sense for TLG, as these sets are just for having a little fun and don't need parts to sell themselves (that said, the Halloween set included an exclusive brown zombie). The minifigures are mostly new but just feature combinations of pre-existing elements such as the dark red bandana (http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?P=x70&in=S) which appears in two other sets, the bright yellow-orange crab (http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?P=33121&in=Swhich appears in sixteen other sets, and the map (http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?P=3068bpb315&in=S) which appears in four other sets. The bottle is most likely the one from POTC and the HH with the ship-in-bottle pattern which would explain the markings (http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?P=95228pb01&in=S). That bottle appears in two sets.

No new parts as far as I can tell which isn't surprising.

The main question is if this might be an indicator of a new pirate theme...

Could be. It looks  somewhat junorized (clean-shaved pirate grunts with matching outfits, lack of a multitude of weapons, etc.). It could be going in the same direction that the Castle theme went in, with LOTR sort of taking over the older historical fan crowd.

Why would lego put chrome treasure in a $15 accessory pack, but put pearl treasure in a $100 castle??

Wow!  Just when nobody expected.  I remember there was a rumor that Lego may do something about Pirates theme in 2013, better late then never!  Hope a couple of nice ships will appear.

I have 2 of these that I picked up in Maryland last week. I haven't opened either. It does appear that there are coins included that go in the chest, and some other stuff as well.

Cos LEGO sometimes does weird moves lol :D

Do you think Lego would launch a new pirate theme at this moment in time?

It wouldn't arrive until 2014, otherwise someone would have already heard details about it, and as Pirates of Caribbean movies are back from 2015, wouldn't they just do more from this theme and avoid a clash? (dependant on licence agreements).

Maybe their license is already ended with the last line they produced... noone knows!

If the Pirate's theme comes back it could be a little kick up for Lego's largest ship  :D:frantics:

Yeah! It's already doing pretty darn good, but a kick in the pants never hurt nuthin'

This would be fantastic!

  • 2 weeks later...

Here it is available from Lego Shop-at-Home, Classic Pirate Set

Strangely enough, it has already disappeared from the store. Not that it matters as it's just a mish-mash of junk parts.

One would much appreciate a redcoat/bluecoat soldier pack.
