Selling through Amazon FBA

I glanced through the prior topics, but didn't see anything specific to Amazon FBA (Fullfillment By Amazon).  If there was and I missed it, I apologize.

I'm looking to sell some Lego sets using the Amazon FBA service and was wondering if anybody has had any experience good or bad selling through FBA.  My concerns are that I have to put an FBA label over the barcode on the box.  Not sure how a collector would feel about having to remove it and potentially damage the box.

Also, a little concerned that the boxes that I send which are in mint condition, may not be received by the customer in mint condition, if you know what I mean.  Just checking to see what others have experienced.

If anybody has any experience buying through an FBA seller, I would appreciate any comments on the buying side too.

Thanks!

Is there even a base for a lawsuit?  Pretty sure in TOS we gave Amazon permission to treat 3PS like crap :(

The short answer is no.  The long answer is also no.

Had an FBA return marked "Defective or Damaged Prior to Shipping" and the deposition was marked as "Defective" upon receiving the return. From the customer  comment it is pretty clear this was carrier damaged crushed in a shipping bag (shocker!). I created a removal order. Do I escalate this to management upon filing a claim?

Disposition Defective

Customer return reason Product damaged or defective prior to shipping

Customer comment: The  box was in a shipping bag and was crushed. I did not open the box, but I can't use it as a gift because it looks like it has been around for years!

If you find out a way to make them reimburse you for that, lmk. This is a regular occurrence for me and I've never been able to get them to reimburse me for one. I mostly don't even try anymore but I do every now and then just so I can get upset. Haha

Wait, you actually got your FBA returned item back? I had a removal order from February that has not been shipped back to me :banghead:

Yeah, removal orders take forever now.  I'm still showing a Sesame Street from Christmas that is stranded because they closed the listing.

No, it made its way to Amazon and I just initiated the removal to inspect and challenge, etc. I'm surprised with the comment from the buyer about the box being crushed in the shipment that they wouldn't mark this as carrier damage.

A lot of the decisions are made by who is ever on the floor at the time.  I receive purchased items in bags, they ship some of my FBA in bags, they mark items as "unsellable" even though they are still in brand new condition, they will sell items in damaged condition while telling me some of my items are not acceptable.  I recently bought 25 small lego sets from FBA 3rd party and they all came in a pristine shipping box.  20 of the sets were all crushed, ripped, dented, smashed, etc.

It's their company, they can do what they want, but they "should" at least practice what they preach and direct us to do.  But they don't.  They have their own separate set of rules.

You described every other big corporations out there.  Just look at Disney and Google among others :D

I got a question for the pros at selling on Amazon.com. I can list Lego sets in a few frustration free packaging (FFP) categories. I am selling FBA only. Do I need to provide the FFP like shipping each set to the fulfillment center inside their original Lego box ? Nothing in the listing process on Amazon.com suggests I should ship the sets any different than the rest. Like they say Ignorance is bliss. I sold a few sets in these categories over Christmas and nothing abnormal came from these transactions.

Wrong I believe. The listing variant says you should. Like if you list under the 6 pack of something you can't send a single item. That said, will the average consumer know or care what frustration free means and will you get a complaint? Odds are slim to none. Personally I only send in true frustration free packaging if I am using that listing.

Are you providing your own FFP ? Is a regular box sufficient or does it have to be exactly like the Lego shipping box ? Unfortunately, I got the rid of these Lego shipping boxes as I have no room for them. They can’t be folded easily.

Frustration free is a specific box. It is sealed and has a product label. More and more sets are being offered FF, so more and more people are getting familiar with it. Especially collectors. If I pay an extra $20-30 for an FF box, it better be.
If you want to gamble with it go for it.

Just an FYI, I once received a pancaked FFP box shipping in an amazon carton. Whilst it may improve your chances of getting a well packaged set there is no guarantee.

i sold through 22x 20th anniversary slave1s last month for $279-285 FBM under the FFP listing which was pricing higher than the standard listing.

i  did not ship them in a lego box.  i shipped them inside a  new plain 20x16x4 box wrapped in small bubble wrap with extra cardboard strips along the top and bottom to prevent denting.  i sold through all of the "white label" euro imports.  grandma doesn't care as long as it arrives in good shape.  zero returns on this set which is pretty amazing actually.

ymmv since easter shopping is over and only jerky nitpicky collectors are buying now until graduation season.

i also sold a megaconstrux uss enterprise for $399 fbm which is also pretty amazing.

Umm, 15 listings I'm selling on got taken down today and are showing as 'Restricted ASIN' under stranded inventory.  No emails, no notices, nothing I can see about why.  Anyone else having this issue?

One of mine did with a restricted ASIN, now I have 9 units stranded in the warehouse.

Yup, noticed a couple this morning as well

Are these listings FBM or FBA ? I have an FBA shipment in transit and so far none of the listings included in that shipment are shown as stranded but that could all change very shortly. Can you share a few of the Lego set numbers that have become restricted so I can check on my end. Thanks.

What ASINs are you seeing restricted?  Lego or non-Lego?

All lego.  Now up to 16 ASINs.  No response to the case I opened yet.

Can you share some of the ASINs?

B01KBSNBL0 which also has an alternative listing is another.

I wonder if something wasn't fully filled out in these listings and got flagged by a bot or something.
