Enhance the Brickpicker Database

When we launched the Brickpoints store, I know many of you were probably thinking, "How the heck can I earn that many Brickpoints?"  There will be plenty of ways to earn points and then be rewarded with picking a set you really want.  There are A LOT of LEGO sets!!  Its hard keeping up with all the data, especially as new sets come along.  Well here is where Brickpicker Members can help and earn points for doing so.  Every set guide page will have a link to take you to a data page where you can enter in values (CORRECT VALUES PLEASE :) ) of information that we may not have, or maybe we have wrong.  If we are missing the number of pieces or retail values, you can enter it in here.  There will also be an open text box that will allow you to give details as to where your information came from.  If you want to have it reviewed quickly, please provide good information, links, etc so that we can verify easily. We will be notified that a submission is available to be reviewed.

You can find the link to add/edit information here:

There are plenty of options to help find and more on the way.  There are potentially hundreds of thousands of points to be earned, so that could help many of you make great progress towards getting a set that you want.  Every submission that gets approved is worth 10 Brickpoints for sets before 2000, 5 Brickpoints for newer sets.  When you view the form, the items you see listed in green are data points that we already have in the database.  Then you will see plenty of data points in there that are red that we need.  We are really trying to enhance our retail prices and set dimensions.  This will go a long way for the price guide and classifieds.

Take a look, let me know your thoughts, give it a shot and let's make Brickpicker even better.

I will update my main post with a few Q&A that I have received.

Will we be able to update photos (especially if one doesn't exist)?

Yes, this will be added

What happens if many people submit the same information for the same set?

Basically it will be first come first serve.  I have it set that the first person that gets data approved gets the credit and points, all the other submissions get deleted, so I will not have to worry about duplicated approvals

  • I think there will be a lot more options coming with this.  Minifigures could be a huge addition.  The backbone of the site is the price guide and set information.  The investing aspect is also a majo

  • I noticed that you got more brickpoints. Great job and keep up the good work. Also, your set reviews are amazing, I am still not done reading them.

  • Here is how the boxes should be measured, or look at the dimensions to see how they look. If you have a height of 11 inches on a small set, something is wrong.

Is anyone else getting notifications? I haven't gotten any for about week.

I have not done any in week, so no. Maybe I'll get some done later in the day.

How do you add a set to the database?

Just send me a PM.  I have not added any 2014 sets since there will really be no data on them yet.

I submitted some data on Friday for some of the 2014 Star Wars sets and I was wondering if you guys received that? I got a few error messages when I submitted the data.

Did our brickpoints get reset? I thought I had somewhere in the 6000's and now I see I have it in the 500s?

I will be adding everyone's brick points back in. I have records of everything

My Brickpoints appear fine when I go to my profile page and click on the "Brickpoints" button. It just seems like the front page of BrickPicker displays an incorrect amount.

Okay, thanks!! :)

How do I add a set to the database?

I couldn't find a link anywhere for submitting new sets and I can't find this one to add to my brickfolio:

Pyjamas Emmet

4pcs

Age 6+

Number Codes on back:

5002045

Item: 6082513

UPC: 673419220972

Here's another:

Radio DJ Robot

4pcs

5002203

Item: 6082514

UPC: 673419220989

40085

2014 Valentine Bear

127 pcs

Item: 6062551

UPC: 673419212960

Weird, I tried to add all three to my brickfolio last night and I was getting no hits with them.  Guess I must have been more tired then I thought while doing data entry.  Sorry about that.

Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I was just noticing that the price guide lists 425 pieces for the 21108 Ecto-1, whereas lego.com is showing 508.  Not a huge deal, but it caught my eye.

Just go to the BP page for Ecto-1 and click the link to update the information.  Jeff will update the page once he gets time to do it and you will get some BP points for updating the information.

The link looks like this:

If you would like to add/edit information for this set listing, click here and earn Brickpoints!

Cool.  Just entered the updated info.  Thanks for the point in the right direction Darth!  I'm still learning all the ins and outs of the site.

Are photos able to be added yet?  If so, how?  I have taken some photos of a few small sets that don't have any pics in the DB

Not yet.  But it would be great if we had them added.  You can submit them via email using the "notify us via email" link on the set's page.  That way Jeff can review them and fit them to size.

Thanks.  Just fired off three pics to some of the small Friends sets.
