February 2016 Polybag Availability Update

Sorry if there's a post like this already. I searched but polybag comes up in so many threads its hard to see! I was thinking of getting polybags to sell. I'm not really looking for huge profit, mostly it seemed like a good idea for building up my eBay feedback. So I don't need to be super profitable but of course I don't want to lose money with shipping, etc. How do you know what bags will do well (obviously like anything theres no sure thing but any idea what does decent vs what js pretty much always a flop). They are hard to search for since they are random. How long do they usually last? Is there any general tips you could give?

I bought my first poly today, and I love it. I will definitely buy more, but it's a pain to build them. I just like them to display, and for collecting since they're very affordable and pretty good for quick investments once they retire.

I buy the seasonal polybags like the thanksgiving table 40056, fall scene 40057, decorating the tree 40058, santa sleigh 40059  more of the recent ones. as well as the freebies like the mini VW camper and the mini sopwith camel

What do you guys use to ship polybags?  Bubble mailer?  Box?  

Cheap bubble mailer. You can buy 100 on Amazon for about 12 cents each. I charge $2 shipping on minifigs and polybags. First class shipping is $1.69, so good to go.

Interesting results. Seems like most are casual collectors of polybags and typically choosy as to which ones to invest with. Sounds about right.

First time trying to sell polybags.... what do you typically send the polybags in? (padded envelopes)?

Haven't been there yet. My finds are in a local shop though.

Been to TRU they only had the Star Wars Destroyer at

whsmiths, the lawnmower is not bad for 3 quid if you can still get them, the republic frigate maybe, it rarer. The thing with the star destroyer is, you will always get better value for your money, I know people collect polybags and its star wars, but lego churn out so many star wars sets 12 pound and under. even the x-wings from 4 years ago can still be had for a fiver, one day they will go up, its inevitable, but that time is not anytime soon, maybe when the film comes out, probably not. I off loaded mine I got for 15p each when there were in the promo, they still only sell for a pound or 2, this is not a good idea to buy at a fiver. In the mid 80's you'd get shops with a bucket outside the shop selling darth vader kenner figures for a pound.

You'd be better of getting some iron man sets for 8 quid off amazon.

I was looking for the TC4 polybags as someone mentioned TRU had them but not sure if they meant online or in store. Website is out of stock and says they don't sell them in store

The TC-4's were gone in 2 - 3 days.

When they first became available the website said they were not in store but they were. you could only get 2 per online order, they were gone in a day. Friday night, then they were available on Sunday for free if you bought more than 10 pounds worth off star wars lego, but that barely last a day too. The stores were emptied by the middle of the week if not sooner.

I think toysrus missed a trick selling them in store for 2.49, I couldn't be assed to go on a treasure hunt so I made 3 orders to get 6, spent 126 in total.

I had "inside knowledge" and asked the wife of my cousin who works at TRU to grab a box of TC-4 for me.  I sold the lot "off-piste" to a fellow eBayer for

is there a list of polybag sets for 2014 and what is exclusive to which store?  I grabbed a bunch of the Wyldstyle vs. Micromanager at bogo 50% and it was a fun build.  I have only started doing polybags since last october and do not have a lot.  I prefer they have a minifig or be holiday specific.

 

I know the 30281 Micro Manager Battle is exclusive to Meijer, so if you do not have one by you, I can get them.

Having a list is easy; the exclusivity part is tricky though as that can change on a dime sometimes. I should have some of this year's polybag on the Sets of 2014 topic list. If not then I will go through everything to add them now.
